Halloween Decoration Sale!

 

The Friends of the Octavia Fields Library received a large donation of Halloween decor and costume items. They're sharing these with the community with a Halloween Sale. So come by the library and check out the Friend's sale items. Items are 1/2 of the marked retail price so you're saving a lot of money and supporting your library! Sale ends Nov. 2 so don't delay!

To get us all in the Halloween mood, we here at the Parker Williams Branch are getting ready by watching the recapture of Newt Scamander’s menagerie of fantastic beasts.

For those who are planning to be Newt for Halloween, you’ll be just that much closer to your costume as we are going to make a Bowtrickle to hide behind your lapel.

We are continuing our flashback to the past with 80’s Movie Night! Join us on the 3rd Monday of every month for a different awesomely rad 80’s movie! This month, we will be watching the John Hughes classic, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (PG-13), starring Matthew Broderick and Alan Ruck. We’ll provide the popcorn, but make sure you bring your own non-alcoholic beverage of choice!

The movie will be shown in the first floor Meeting Room (L129) on Monday, October 16th starting at 6:30 pm.

Volunteer to Teach the English Language!

Adults at library tableHCPL is always in need of volunteers to teach English as a Second Language to adults. We provide the materials and we will train you. We are offering a tutor training session at the Aldine Library on Thursday, October 19, from 12 - 4 pm. If you are interested, please register through our branch events calendar here and feel free to call if you have questions. It’s a great way to help the people of your community!

Do you think you are the scariest witch in town?  Do you have the coolest Stars Wars costume?  Come prove it!  Join us for a Halloween Costume Contest at Jacinto City Branch Library!

The costume contest will have two age categories, Kids (5-10 yrs) and Teens (11-17 yrs).

  • • Kids costume judging starts right at 6 PM
    • Teens will follow at 6:30 pm

There will be a prize for each age group!

Crosby Library Celebrates 30 Years and a New Name

The 30th anniversary of the current library building, and renaming ceremony, will be celebrated in the meeting room on Monday, October 16.  Join us for refreshments and remininiscences at our Open House from 4 pm - 6 pm, with ribbon cutting to take place at 6 pm.  Speakers will follow until 7 pm.  This program is free and open to the public.
