Adult Program, Painting Rocks! Wednesday, June 20 at 3 pm

Anime Club – Cowboy Bebop (TV-MA) [12+] - Friday, June 22nd from 4 PM to 6 PM

This summer, we are showing some anime that rocks!

Starting off with Cowboy Bebop, we will get the full jazz experience from Yoko Kanno and the Seatbelts as we rocket around Mars.

Join us for 2 hours of jazz infused action packed anime and Pocky in the Library Community Room on Friday, June 22nd from 4 PM to 6 PM at the Parker Williams Branch Library.

Citizenship Classes Happening Now!

Citizenship Classes are back! They are every Monday at 7pm in our Computer Lab.

Prepare for the United States Citizenship exam with this course. Classes are in English and study materials are provided by HCPL. Please note that this course does not grant citizenship and does not cover the cost of the exam.

Music Expo: Learn about singing and playing

Ever wanted to make your rock star dreams a reality?  Today is the day!  Ask a variety of local musicians what it takes to play and sing, either as a hobby or as a professional career. Get your start at this music expo for all ages on Saturday, June 16 from 11am to 2pm.

Magician Mick Corley visits Freeman Library on Thursday, June 14 @ 2:30 & 3:30 pm

  Magician Mick Corley brings his magic, mime, and puppets to Freeman on Thursday, June 14 at 2:30 and 3:30 pm.  Mick will have children rolling in the aisle with laughter with his magic tricks and humor.  He also shows childen the importance of the summer reading program. 

 This program is recommended for children 5 years and older.   Tickets are required.  They are free and given out 30 minutes before each session.  Due to space limitations only one adult will be admintted per child and strollers will not be admitted to the performance area.  Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for their generous support of this program.

Word Crafter Wednesday for BB @ Lone Star North Harris

LGBTQIA Picture Books

Last week I posted about Pride Month and gave some recommendations for diverse young adult reads. This week we’re continuing the celebration by looking at some picture books that help bring LGBTQIA representation to our shortest shelves and youngest readers. These books are kind, funny, and heart-warming in turn. They're also really great for story time.  

 

 

Houston Ballet presents: Sleeping Beauty Spanish Ballet

Does your child or a child you know love ballet? Children ages 4 to 13 are invited to come and join the Houston Ballet as they present the Spanish Ballet Sleeping Beauty this Monday, June 18 at 3:00 PM. This program will be a one-hour storytelling experience that introduces students to the art form of ballet. This educational program guides them through the plot of a Sleeping Beauty ballet by sharing abbreviated video clips of a Houston Ballet production. The interactive hands-on experience will include costumes, props and pointe shoes for students to examine.

Summer Meals @ Barbara Bush Library

This summer, the Barbara Bush Library and The Houston Food Bank are partnering up to provide healthy lunches for kids. 

Lunches will be served on Mondays to Fridays  from 11:30am-12:30pm. On Mondays, lunches will be available in our Earl Elliott Meeting Room, and on Tuesdays-Fridays lunches will be available in our Robin Bush Activity Room.
