Teen Read Week

Book Tasting CheckerboardIt's Teen Read Week at North Channel.  We are having a Book Tasting this afternoon.  Come join us for a sampling of various flavors of YA titles.  Do you enjoy savoring characters and plots?  Do you prefer a bittersweet finish?  Discussion is welcome.  Stop into the meeting room at 4:45 pm.  On Wednesday, Oct.11th, we will have a BookFace competition.  Come by at 4:30 pm to find some cool reads.  Then, on Thursday, Oct. 12th we will have a  second helping of YA titles with another Book Tasting at 4:30 pm in the meeting room.

Cooks and Books

Join the fun with our new book group for grades 3-5. For this meeting we are reading a graphic novel (your choice) and making our own dessert pizzas!

Space is limited. Please arrive early to ensure participation.

Moody Gardens presents "Rainforest Roadshow" on Wednesday, October 11 @ 4:30 pm

    Looking for a fun Wednesday afternoon program for your preschool and elementary age children?   Join us this Wednesday, October 11 at 4:30 pm for a special visit from Moody Gardens' Rainforest Roadshow.   We'll have lots of interesting artifacts and neat facts about the rainforest and what it means to us.   Tickets are required.  They are free and available at the Kids Information Desk starting at 4 pm.   We'll have the program in the Children's Activity Space.   There will be books to check out and activity pages at the program.

Pokemon Club!

Join us for Pokemon Club this Friday, October 13 at 4:30 pm. All Pokemon trainers ages 8-12 are welcome to come and trade Pokemon cards, play your DS, or Pokemon Go! There will be drinks and snacks. For more information please call 713-466-4438.

Scatterbug Robots

Tomorrow, Wednesday October 11th at 4pm we will be making another robot! This week's robot is a scatterbug. He's sure to scatter around and scare parents! What a perfect robot for Halloween! Registration isn't required. Join us in our meeting room for tons of Robotics fun.

In an immersive 360-degree narrative, Burns and Novick tell the epic story of the Vietnam War as it has never before been told on film. Libraries around the county will offer public screenings and share the stories of this ? time period with programs and presentations.

Teen Computer Classes!

Every month, our technology trainer holds computer classes for teens ages 10-18.  This month he will be teaching 3 Google classes.  The classes are taught in small groups in our computer lab by our experienced technical guru, Loyd Huhn. He can help you master Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides so that your next school assignment looks slick and professional!
