Join us to celebrate Citizenship Month!  Embrace the beauty of our diverse society by making your own beautiful origami butterfly to add to our display.  Write an uplifting message on it and drop it off at the Information Desk.

Attention kids, boos, and ghouls! You are invited to our Halloween Party for children this Thursday at 10:30 AM!  Come have fun with crafts and treats.  Be sure and wear your costume!

Responsible Pet Ownership

How would you protect your pet in an emergency?  Learn about that and other aspects of responsible pet ownership at our special Gulf Coast Reads Responsible Pet Ownership program on Thursday, October 22nd at 4:00 PM.  All ages are welcome!  This program is presented by Harris County Veterinary Public Health Services.

Gulf Coast Reads Month!

October is Gulf Coast Reads month, and this year we’re reading The Promise by Ann Weisgarber.  Please join us for special events to celebrate reading this book.

  • Book Discussion with the Bear Creek Book Club on Monday, October 12th at 7:00 PM
  • Responsible Pet Ownership & Helping Your Pet in Disasters on Thursday, October 22nd at 4:00 PM

All ages are welcome to attend!

Also, please stop by our special display in the Fiction section to browse other titles related to The Promise—learn about Galveston, hurricanes, the early 1900s, and more!

Volunteer @ Your Library

Are you or someone that you know interested in volunteering at the library?  Join us for our New Volunteer Orientation Monday, October 5th at 6:30 PM to find out more about volunteering at our branch.  Please bring your Volunteer application, signed by a parent or guardian, with you to the Orientation.  If you need an application, you may pick one up at the Orientation.  Anyone under the age of 12 must volunteer with a parent or guardian.

Read Anything Book Club

Middle Schoolers, join us on Wednesday at 5:00 PM for the Read Anything Book Club!  Have you read a really interesting book, graphic novel, or fanfiction?  Come and talk to us about it!  All Middle School-aged children are welcome to attend.
