Origami Fun!

Origami HorseDo your kids like origami? Do they want to learn how to make more cool paper folding shapes and animals? Come to our special Summer Reading Program presentation of Origami Fun! This special program is for school-age children who have completed Kindergarten or higher. It will be on Thursday, July 8th at 1 PM. Space is limited, so be sure and pick up your ticket at the information desk! Tickets will be released one hour prior to the start of the program.

Are you feeling crafty?

Patriotic PattyDo the grey skies have you itching for something fun to do? Stop by the library on Saturday, July 3rd! At 10:30 AM, there will be a 4th of July windsock craft just for kids! Then, at 1:30 PM, stop by the Information Desk to pick up our Craft & Go Project—make a glass magnet of your very own!

Mmmm, Pizza.

Pizza Toss!Are you a school-aged child in grades K-5, or do you know one who is? Do you or a child you know like pizza? If so, we have the perfect program! Join us for Domino’s Pizza Tossing Party during Kids Korner, Wednesday, June 23rd at 4 PM! Watch the great employees from Domino’s teach kids how to toss dough to make the perfect crust. Kids will even get some dough of their own and a slice of pizza.

Family Movie Fridays

Are you looking to beat the heat? Trying to battle the boredom of the summer doldrums? Look no further than your library to turn every Friday into a fun day! Stop by at 1 PM for Family Movie Fridays. Each Friday we are showing a family-friendly title. Call the branch for title and rating information.

Crafty Saturday

Beaded BookmarksAre you feeling crafty this summer? If you are, stop by the library on Saturday afternoon! At 1:30 PM we will have our first Craft & Go of the summer. Come to the information desk and we will give you a kit to make your very own beaded bookmark (supplies are limited). These bookmarks are lovely and a lot of fun to make. Nothing’s better than marking your place in your book with a bookmark that you made.

Bear Creek Book Club Walks on Eggshells

The Bear Creek Book Club will be meeting tonight at 7:00 PM to discuss the book Walking on Eggshells by Jane Isay. The book selection for July will be Shanghai Girls by Lisa See.

Right now, we have a special display of travel books located at the front of the library. And of course, if you aren’t able to find that perfect travel book at Katherine Tyra @ Bear Creek, we can put in a request for you!

Oh No!

Oh no! Water may get on Mr. Dewey!Mr. Dewey would like to take a moment to remind everyone to be careful with getting your books wet! Water can damage a book badly and cause mildew to grow. Once a book has mildew, it is a danger to everyone. Help keep your books dry—they’re not able hold an umbrellas themselves!

 

Bear Creek Book Club Bonanza!

The Bear Creek Book Club met on Wednesday, May 5th. Death of RileyThey discussed The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende. They will be meeting on Wednesday, June 2nd at 7:00 PM to discuss the book Walking on Eggshells by Jane Isay.
And if mysteries are your interest, the Mystery Book Club will be meeting on Wednesday, May 19th at 11:00 AM to discuss Death of Riley by Rhys Bowen. 206 Bones by Kathy Reichs is the hot topic for June 16th.

We here at Katherine Tyra @ Bear Creek Library are very happy to introduce a new friend! Please meet Mr. Dewey, a book who lives at our library. Mr. Dewey really enjoys hanging out at the library people-watching. But when the library closes for the day, he enjoys relaxing with his friends.
