Bear Creek Book Club

Secret ScriptureJoin the Bear Creek Book Club on Wednesday, November 6th to discuss the book The Secret Scripture by Sebastian Barry.  The book choice for December is Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford.  The Bear Creek Book Club meets every month on the first Wednesday at 7:00 PM in the library’s magazine area.

IRS Small Business Workshop

Do you know your tax responsibilities as a small business owner? Join us this Saturday, November 2nd at 1:00 PM.  This free workshop is designed to inform business owners of their federal tax obligations. Gregory E. Vernon CPA, MBA, is scheduled to be the featured guest speaker at all workshops. Please call 713-302-6249 for reservations to the workshop.

Exciting Children's Programs!

DogWe have several unique programs for children happening this week!  On Tuesday, September 10th at 10:30 AM our Preschool Storytime will have a special visit from the always entertaining Ronald McDonald.  On Wednesday, September 11th at 10:30 and 11:00 AM our Toddler Times will have a very special visit from the YMCA to learn family yoga!  And last but certainly not least, on Thursday, September 12th at 10:30 AM our Free Play program will have a special visit from the Citizens for Animal Protection (CAP).

Preschool Storytime and Toddler Time are ticketed events.  Free tickets will be available prior to the start of each program at the Information Desk.  First come, first served.

It's a Bird, It's a Plane...It's a Strawplane!

StrawplaneStep aside, paper airplanes…strawplanes were where it’s at!  Kids of all ages, join us for Build It on Thursday, August 22nd at 10:30 AM.  You’ll be crafting your very own strawplane to take home and fly (pending your parent’s approval)!

Newspaper Forts!

Newspaper FortEnd summer on a high note with our LAST Summer Special Craft!  On Tuesday, August 6th at 3:00 PM we’ll be constructing newspaper forts!  This program is recommended for ages 6-12 and families are welcome.  A free ticket is required for admittance and will be available one hour prior to the start of the program.  First come, first served.

Absorbing Art

Absorbinb ArtworkJoin us for our next Summer Reading Program Special Craft, Absorbing Artwork!  This art and science activity will have your child use salt, glue, and food coloring to create their very own 3-D artwork.  This program will take place Tuesday, July 30th at 3:00 PM and is recommended for ages 6-12.  Families welcome.  A free ticket is required for admittance and will available one hour prior to the start of the program.  First come, first served.

Sweet Dreams With Your Own Dream Catcher

Dream CatcherDo you like crafts and want to make something cool this weekend?  Craft your way to sweet dreams with our next Craft & Go, Dream Catchers!  We will be handing out these kits on Saturday, July 27th at 1:30 PM at the Service Desk.  Supplies are limited.  First come, first served.

Happy BalloonsCome be creative and giggle at our next Summer Craft, Farting Balloon Art!  Join us on Tuesday, July 16th at 3:00 PM to make your own special balloon prints.  This program is recommended for ages 6-12.  A free ticket is required for admittance and will be available one hour before the program starts.

Snakes!

Snake!Harrison Ford and Samuel L. Jackson probably wouldn’t be thrilled about our next Tuesday special program, but you will be!  Snake Man is coming to our library with his assortment of colorful and entertaining snakes.  Join us on Tuesday, July 9th at 3:00 and 4:00 PM for two special shows.  This program is recommended for ages 6-12.  Tickets are required for admittance and will be available an hour prior to the start of each program.

Movies, Movie, Movies!

It’s going to be another hot week, but you can cool yourself off with free movies at the library!  On Friday, June 28th at 3:00 PM we will be showing a fun family movie.  On Saturday, June 29th at 1:30 PM we are showing a PG-rated movie.  Call the library for title information.
