SummerSchool’s almost out, and the library has a fun-filled summer planned for all kids, teens, and adults.  Here’s a preview:

Kids -- magic, science, father’s day cards, puppet shows, zumba, clowns, puzzles, and ferrets.

Teens -- prize drawings, life-size Candyland, tech petting zoo, duct tape, origami, cupcake contest, and a blacklight party.

Adults -- prize drawings, reflexology, gardening, computer classes, genealogy, book club, knitting, and crochet.

Worse Than Driving with a Cell Phone

BossypantsI only watch Saturday Night Live occasionally, and I rarely watch stand-up comedy on TV.  (Yes, I do have a sense of humor in spite of this.)  However, I cannot stop listening to the audiobook of Tina Fey’s new Bossypants.  I listen to it as I’m driving, and more than once I’ve had to turn it off so I could stop laughing long enough to be a responsible driver.  I recommend the audiobook over the book so you can hear Tina Fey herself deliver the lines as only she can do.

There Once Was a Girl Named….

She Walks in BeautyI suspect there are poems written for every subject a person could imagine.  (Some more interesting than others.)  I love a recent collection I saw: Caroline Kennedy’s She Walks in Beauty.  The poems run the gamut from falling in love to breaking up; from love of clothes to love of work; from growing up to growing old.  It’s a beautiful collection that makes me delighted to be a woman.
