15 Wonderful Butterflies!

Last week, before the Thanksgiving break, we released our 15 butterflies that we watched transform from caterpillars to lovely painted lady butterflies. It has been a real pleasure for staff and the public alike, and a wonderful way to celebrate Houston Citizenship Month!

Houston Citizenship Month at Evelyn Meador!

Last Thursday, as a special treat for Houston Citizenship Month, Evelyn Meador hosted Community Relations Officer Rosa Ramirez, and Officer Peter Cheng from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Office. They spoke about the Citizenship process, conducted a mock interview, and answered many pressing questions about the citizenship process. We thank them for  coming out, and being a part of our ongoing citizenship programming.

Also in honor of Houston Citizenship Month, our information desk has been further beautified by not only real butterflies-to-be, but also a butterfly book display, and crafty paper butterflies. Stop by and make one to keep, or add to the display!

Butterflies at Evelyn Meador!

In celebration of Houston Citizenship Month, libraries across the county, Evelyn Meador included, will be hosting butterflies! Well, they're caterpillars right right now, but they are turning into chrysalides, and after seven to ten days, they'll emerge as beautiful painted lady butterflies! They are at the information desk transforming before our eyes, so stop by and check them out!

Gulf Coast Reads book discussion, The Promise.

Gulf Coast Reads selects a book title each year for readers along the upper Gulf Coast. This year's selection is The Promise, by Ann Weisgarber. Come join us for a stimulating discussion in the meeting room next Thursday, November 22nd from 2-4pm.

Join us for Day of the Dead Chocolates!

Join us on September 30th in the meeting room as we celebrate Dia de los Muertos, and National Hispanic Heritage Month, while making some tasty Day of the Dead chocolates! We'll start creating at 4:30pm, so be sure to come early to get a tasty grinning treat!
