The Little Blue Library is Open Saturdays

The Baldwin Boettcher Branch Library is now open on Saturday’s from 10 am to 5 pm, and today, Saturday, Nov 10 at 1 pm our staff would like to welcome all customers for a Colonial food tasting program. Our library customers will have the opportunity to sample traditional Colonial dishes of the United States of America. Join us for this early Thanksgiving celebration hosted by our beloved Cindy Groover.   We will serve the food under the Mercer Office Building on the East side of the Mercer Park. Teen Thursday at The Little Blue Library

Today is Thursday, Nov 8, and we will be having Month of Magic part 2 The Wand Shop.  We are celebrating Harry Potter all month, and this week we will be making wands.  We may not actually have a wand shop, but we do have wood, paint, and other decorations to make a wand of our own.  Cheesy? Yes.  Fun? Yes.  This magical activity will be for ages 11 to 18 and take place under the Tree House of Mercer Botanic Gardens at 4 pm.  Come join us!

Wednesday at The Little Blue Library

Today is Wednesday, Nov 7, and we have a lot in store for you today.  At 11 am we will have our Spin-a-Yarn meeting in the Mercer Botanic Center.  It will take place at 22540 Aldine Westfield Rd.  For more information on the location, please call Carrie at 832-927-5480.  If you like to knit, crochet, create, and chat, then this is the group for you.  Then we have an extra treat for you today.  At 4 pm we will have our Paint by Numbers program.  It will take place under the Tree House at Mercer Botanic Gardens.  It is for ages 6 and up.  Come join us to practice the relaxing and fun craft of paint by numbers.  In the evening at 5 pm our Word Crafters will meet in the Starbucks at 1960 and Aldine Westfield Rd.  If you like to write or want to start, come join

Thursday at The Little Blue Library


Today is Thursday, Nov 1, and we will have our teen program.  This month we will celebrate Harry Potter, and today we will have our Month of Magic part 1: “Marauder’s Map Scavenger Hunt”.  Using GPS coordinates we will uncover what the Marauder’s Map tries to hide.  It will begin at the Tree House at Mercer Botanic Gardens and will venture out to explore the gardens as part of the program.  This activity is for ages 11 to 18 and will begin at 4 pm.  Come join us for a fun and magical time!

Wednesday at The Little Blue Library


Today Wed, Oct 31 “Halloween” we had our Spin-a-Yarn group meet at 11 am in the Mercer Botanic Center.  It is located at 22540 Aldine Westfield Rd.  If you like to knit, crochet, create, and chat then this is the group for you.   For more information on the location, please call Carrie at 832-927-5480.
There will be no Word Crafters tonight.  We will meet again next week on Wed Nov 7 at 5 pm.

Tuesday at the Little Blue Library

We will have Gulf Coast Reads today, Tuesday, Oct 30  at 1 pm under the tree house.  Adults are invited to join in a book discussion of the Gulf Coast Reads book, Bluebird, Bluebird by Attica Locke.   It will be followed by a modge podge craft.  Participants will have the chance to transfer an image to a block of wood.  Come join us!  Then at 5 pm we will have our beginning guitar class.  It will also take place under the tree house. It is taught by local guitarist Kevin Groover.  Participants will learn the basic guitar chords and play simple songs.  This is the last class for the four week session, and it is full. Monday at The Little Blue Library

It is another Monday at the Little Blue Library, and we have several programs in store for you.  At 10:30 am we had Story Time in the Gardens.  The subject this week was bats.  Then for our tweens ages 8 to 12 years we have our Tween Readers Club.  Each month we read a book and then meet to talk about it and eat some delicious treats.  The book this time is Nevermoor: the trials of Morrigan Crow, by Jessica Townsend.  We will meet at 4 pm under the tree house.  Come join us!  For our adults we have ESL with our beloved Cindy.  It will be at 6 pm in the Mercer Botanic Center at 22540 Aldine Westfield Rd.  For more information on the location, please call Cindy at 832-927-5480.  If you would like to know what programs we have coming up, check our events calendar at hcpl.n

Friday at Baldwin Boettcher’s Little Blue Library


Friday, we have our ESL class with Teresa Allen at 1 pm. It takes place in the Mercer Botanic Center at 22540 Aldine Westfield Rd.  Then at 3 pm we have our Citizenship Class with Cindy at the same location.  The Citizenship class if full at this time.  For more information on directions to the Mercer Botanic Center, please call Cindy at 832-927-5480.

Thursday at The Little Blue Library

Today is Thursday and we will be having our Teen Program, Creepy things part 4.  It is a series for the month of October of fun creepy things, because who can resist a little scare?  For this one we will be decorating pumpkins.  Do not fear, get creative with it.  Display it for all to see.  This program is for ages 11 to 18 years and will take place under the Tree House at Mercer Botanic Gardens.  Come join us!
