Become a Book Buddy: Teen Volunteers Wanted

Applications are now being accepted for the Book Buddy Programs for both Big and Little Buddies. This program matches trained teen volunteers in grades 7-12 with children in  K-3rd to encourage Little Buddies to develop a love of reading. Each pair will meet for a total of 10 weeks on Wednesdays at 5 pm beginning February 1st, 2017. Applications must be turned in by January 20th. December 23rd-26th: Closed, Christmas Holiday
December 27th-29th: Open, regular hours
December 30th: 1-5 pm
December 31, 2016-January 2nd, 2017: Closed for New Year's Holiday

Holiday Party: Sat. Dec. 10th from 1-3 PM

Join us on Saturday, December 10th from 1:00-3:00 PM for our Holiday and Christmas Celebration. All ages are invited to enjoy live music, delicious refreshments, and craft activities for all.

Halloween Teen Craft: Skull Art

Join us on October 15th at 2 pm for our monthly teen craft. Due to its overwhelming popularity, we are bringing back Skull Art using a board, nails, hammers and string for this spooky handman-inspired craft project. Ages 10 and up. Space is limited. Registration is available online at www. hcpl.net or at the information desk. 

Teen Craft Saturday: CD Scratch Art

Learn how to turn your old CDs into beautiful art this Saturday, September 17th at 2 PM.

This program is limited to ages 10 and up and requires pre-registration at hcpl.net or at the information desk.

NEW Wednesday evening Story Time beginning in September

Kids all ages, join us for bedtime snack and stories. Bring a stuffed animal and wear your favorite jammies. Wednesdays at 7 pm starting September 7th. 


Little Buddy Application Deadline extended until Friday, Sept. 9th

Applications for Little Buddies in Grades K-3 will be accepted until September 9th. If the number of applicants exceed the number of Big Buddy volunteers, Little Buddies will be selected by a random lottery. 

Congratulations to our Adult SRP drawing winner!

Congratulations to Ada Culpepper, the winner of the 2016 Adult Summer Reading Program drawing. Ms. Culpepper had her choice of a free book or a Baldwin Boettcher T-Shirt. To enter the drawing she had to sign up for the Summer Reading program, read and log at 10 books between June 6th and August 6th. 

There is still time this week to register and log books/activities for the 2016 Summer Reading Program.
