JUMPSTART: PRESCHOOL STORYTIME ON MAY 10TH AT 10 & 10:30 AM

Jumpstart will be here next Tuesday, May 10th for preschool storytime. Jumpstart is a fun program which uses games and pretending to get kids moving. Because the size of our room and the active nature of the program, which limits us to 15 participating children at a time, two jumpstart sessions will be offered back to back. Please pick up your tickets for the 10:00 a.m. or the 10:30 a.m. program at the reference desk.

Volunteers needed for World Community Fair: Saturday, May 28th

Volunteers are needed to host tables representing countries from around the world at a World Community Fair which will take place from 11-1 on Saturday, May 28,2011. Volunteers may create a table display which educates passing “visitors” of the volunteer’s chosen country and its culture. Some ideas volunteers can use to represent their chosen country could include dressing in the country’s traditional costumes, providing entertainment, informational handouts, crafts, maps, flags, displaying artifacts or providing a taste of native dishes or foods. Please contact Christie Baldwin by clicking the contact link  or call 281-550-0885 for more information. Children's book character Gladys Herdman shares her wings with the children of the Bear Creek Library

Feisty, but lovable Gladys Herdman, a favorite character from The Best Christmas Pageant Ever visited the children of the Bear Creek Library last Wednesday to share stories and take pictures. Initially, creating just a little mayhem with her spunky personality and coaxing the inner mischief out of the rest of us, Gladys also showed her sweet side with lessons of sharing and love she learned from her own experiences. (She even shared her wings!)
