We're getting closer to the end of our renovation project! Check out our new carpeting. It features lots of colors and complements our new wall color very nicely! Your Galena Park library will be open soon. In the meantime, don't forget that the Summer Reading Program for kids, teens and adults will begin on June 4th. You will be able to sign up at any Harris County Library or online at the library website.

It's back! After skipping last month, the Friends of the North Channel Library will be holding their monthly Book Sale this Friday, May 4th and Saturday, May 5th during the library's open hours. The Friends of the library has all types of books and movies for sale. All proceeds from the sale go directly to the North Channel Library to fund various library needs, such as summer performers, books and other items. Don't miss our book sale this weekend!

The North Channel Library had a visit this morning from the Children's Museum of Houston as they presented their Para Los Ninos program. In this session, we read Mouse Paint by Ellen Stoll Walsh and then mixed and created our own color creations! It's sunny outside and sunny inside at Galena Park! Our walls are being painted a bright and happy yellow. The wall behind our circulation desk and the wall in the children's department will stand out now that they are a new color. We can't wait for you to see your library, but don't forget you can always visit our other library branches like our Jacinto City and North Channel branches.

It's back! Our popular "Ask A Lawyer" program will be held this Saturday, April 21st from 11 am- 12:30 pm. This free legal clinic is presented by Angela D. Johnson, Attorney at Law. Ms. Johnson will be answering legal questions and addressing issues that are important to the community. Please join us for a chance for some free legal guidance.

Our renovations are moving along! The outside of our new computer lab is almost complete with the brick wall almost complete. Soon it will be ready to start work on the inside. Don't forget to visit us at our other Harris County branches while we wait for our renovations to be completed!

Wondering what Tween Time is all about? It's about all kinds of things! Last week we made geometric sculptures out of straws and paper clips while enjoying delicious snacks. Next month, who knows what we'll be doing. It could be crafts or science experiments or cooking or a mystery activity! You'll have to come to our next Tween Time program on Wednesday, April 25th at 4:30 pm to find out!

Last week we showed you a picture of the outside of our new computer lab. Today, we have a photograph tracking the progress inside our new computer lab. It's mostly just wood framing now, but soon it will full of new computers for your use! Don't forget that while Galena Park library is closed you can visit any other Harris County Library branch, such as our Jacinto City or North Channel branches.
