New Family Learning Space Opens This Saturday

literacyThe North Channel Library will be unveiling our new Family Learning Space this Saturday, October 1st at 11 am. Thanks to generous funding by the North Shore Rotary Club, the North Channel Library Family Learning Space will be an area in our children’s department focused on encouraging early literacy through play. The development of language and literacy skills begins at birth and children develop much of their capacity for learning in the first three years of life. During this time, we can stimulate a young child’s brain not only through reading with them, but also by providing opportunities for unstructured and dramatic play with materials such as blocks, puppets and more.
