Storybook Opera comes back to North Channel

La la la!  Do you love books so much that you just have to sing about it?  Then be sure to join us for a fun children's program with the Houston Grand Opera's Storybook Opera!  The presenter will be showcasing picture books for toddler and preschoolers in a very musical way!  So don't be late this Tuesday, November 8 at 10:30 am in our meeting room.  This program is recommended for children age 18 months to 6 years.

Halloween Craft and Costume Parade

Do you have a great costume for Halloween this year?  Then show it off at the library!  Why should October 31st be the only day you get to wear your Halloween costume?  Come to the library on Wednesday, October 26th at 4:30 pm for a Halloween Craft and Costume Parade.  Ms. Kim may also have some some yummy candy treats for all our little ghosts and goblins.  See you there!

Looking for a few good volunteers

Do you dream in alphabetical order?  Do you have visions of books standing in a pristine row?  Then the North Channel Library needs your help!  We are always looking for eager volunteers to help us keep our shelves in order.  Our volunteers help us shelve and neaten all the books in our very busy library (and occasionally are called into action to help us with programs as you can see).  Our volunteers generally come in once a week for 2 hours and should be 14 or older.  Teens, this is a great way to earn your National Honor Society hours!  If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out a volunteer application form and ask to speak with Christina when you bring it to the library.  Any questions, please c...

November Computer Classes

Do you need to learn basic computer skills?  The North Channel Library offers monthly computer classes in English and Spanish.   In November, we will be offering basic computer classes that will teach Introduction to Windows, Basic Internet, and How to Use Free Email Services.  These free classes are very popular so registration is required.  To sign up for the November classes, call the library at 281-457-1631 beginning October 15th after 9 am.  Space is limited.

Scrapbooking fun with Mia!

Do you have an inner craft diva waiting to come out?  Then you should join Mia as she holds her Scrapbook program on the second Saturday of every month.  This month, Mia has a special scrapbooking program where we will learn how to make unique cards.  Bring any photos you want to create a special and meaningful card this Saturday, October 8th from 10 am to 3 pm.  No registration is required.  This program is open to kids, teens and adults!

Key Life Decisions: Are You Prepared?

Are you confused about how to protect your financial assets?  How do you plan your estate?  And what about estate taxes?  If you have ever wondered about these or other questions about you or your loved ones financial future, then you don't want to miss the "Key Life Decisions: Are You Prepared" seminar to be held at the North Channel Library on Wednesday, October 12 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.  This program will be presented by Edward Jones and feature presentations from Edward Jones, Liberty Tax Service, the Law Office of James R. Early Literacy Materials @ Your Library!
