November Computer Classes

Do you need to learn basic computer skills?  The North Channel Library offers monthly computer classes in English and Spanish.   In November, we will be offering basic computer classes that will teach Introduction to Windows, Basic Internet, and How to Use Free Email Services.  These free classes are very popular so registration is required.  To sign up for the November classes, call the library at 281-457-1631 beginning October 15th after 9 am.  Space is limited. 

Scrapbooking fun with Mia!

Do you have an inner craft diva waiting to come out?  Then you should join Mia as she holds her Scrapbook program on the second Saturday of every month.  This month, Mia has a special scrapbooking program where we will learn how to make unique cards.  Bring any photos you want to create a special and meaningful card this Saturday, October 8th from 10 am to 3 pm.  No registration is required.  This program is open to kids, teens and adults!

Key Life Decisions: Are You Prepared?

Are you confused about how to protect your financial assets?  How do you plan your estate?  And what about estate taxes?  If you have ever wondered about these or other questions about you or your loved ones financial future, then you don't want to miss the "Key Life Decisions: Are You Prepared" seminar to be held at the North Channel Library on Wednesday, October 12 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.  This program will be presented by Edward Jones and feature presentations from Edward Jones, Liberty Tax Service, the Law Office of James R. Beck, and Advantage Howard Glendale Chapel.  Class size for this seminar is limited, so please RSVP to 281-436-0396 no later than October 11th.

Hispanic Heritage Craft at North Channel

Early Literacy Materials @ Your Library!

North Channel Library is lucky to have wonderful support from our community.  We would especially like to thank the North Shore Rotary Club for their recent gift to help promote early literacy!  Thanks to the generosity of the North Shore Rotary Club, the library was able to purchase many wonderful educational items for children’s use, such as puzzles, puppets, sensory toys for babies and toddlers, and a Hatch Early Literacy Station for preschoolers which comes preloaded with educational games.  So next time you see a North Shore Ro

Book Sale This Weekend!

Are your shelves looking bare?  Then come to the library this Friday, September 30th and Saturday, October 1st to shop at the Friends of the North Channel Library Booksale!  The Friends of the North Channel Library are always accepting donated books which are sold to support the North Channel Library.  Did your family enjoy some the of the fun programs at the library this summer?  Then you are enjoying the generosity of our Friends group!  They fund all kinds of programs and materials here at the library and would love to have your support.  So come to the library this weekend to check out the sale!   The sale will be held during library open hours:

1 pm - 6 pm on Friday, September 30th

and

10 am - 5 pm on Saturday, October 1st

Activities for kids

Our summer reading program may be over but the library has great programs for kids all year round!  Don't forget that we offer 3 types of storytime every week.

  • Toddler Time-Tuesdays at 10:30 AM

 Recommended for toddlers aged 18 months to 3 years, featuring stories, fingerplays, songs and activities.

  •  Preschool Storytime-Tuesdays at 1:30 PM

 Recommended for children aged 3 to 6 years, featuring stories, songs and occasional crafts.

  •  Baby Time-Thursdays at 10:30 AM

 Recommended for infants and children up to 18 months, featuring stories, songs, fingerplays, toys and bubbles!

*This program is one-on-one, one child per adult.

Time To Get Happy!

Summer is coming to a close, but North Channel still has one more great program ready to entertain you!  Come to the library on Wednesday, August 3rd at 2:30 for a magic show by Happy the Clown.  Happy will be performing hilarious magical feats.   We can't wait to see you there!

Animals That Dig!

Hey kids!  Do you love seeing and learning about different animals?  Then be sure to check out our "Animals That Dig" program presented by the Traveling Naturalist from Challenger 7 Park.  The Traveling Naturalist will bring all kinds of animals that dig and burrow.  And who knows, maybe you will get a chance to get close and personal with some of these creatures!  Join us Wednesday, July 20th at 2:30 PM or 3:30 PM.  Tickets are required for this program.  Inquire at the front desk or call the library for more information.
