Book Sale This Weekend!

Are your shelves looking bare?  Then come to the library this Friday, September 30th and Saturday, October 1st to shop at the Friends of the North Channel Library Booksale!  The Friends of the North Channel Library are always accepting donated books which are sold to support the North Channel Library.  Did your family enjoy some the of the fun programs at the library this summer?  Then you are enjoying the generosity of our Friends group!  They fund all kinds of programs and materials here at the library and would love to have your support.  So come to the library this weekend to check out the sale!   The sale will be held during library open hours:

1 pm - 6 pm on Friday, September 30th

and

10 am - 5 pm on Saturday, October 1st

Activities for kids

Our summer reading program may be over but the library has great programs for kids all year round!  Don't forget that we offer 3 types of storytime every week.

  • Toddler Time-Tuesdays at 10:30 AM

 Recommended for toddlers aged 18 months to 3 years, featuring stories, fingerplays, songs and activities.

  •  Preschool Storytime-Tuesdays at 1:30 PM

 Recommended for children aged 3 to 6 years, featuring stories, songs and occasional crafts.

  •  Baby Time-Thursdays at 10:30 AM

 Recommended for infants and children up to 18 months, featuring stories, songs, fingerplays, toys and bubbles!

*This program is one-on-one, one child per adult.

Time To Get Happy!

Summer is coming to a close, but North Channel still has one more great program ready to entertain you!  Come to the library on Wednesday, August 3rd at 2:30 for a magic show by Happy the Clown.  Happy will be performing hilarious magical feats.   We can't wait to see you there!

Animals That Dig!

Hey kids!  Do you love seeing and learning about different animals?  Then be sure to check out our "Animals That Dig" program presented by the Traveling Naturalist from Challenger 7 Park.  The Traveling Naturalist will bring all kinds of animals that dig and burrow.  And who knows, maybe you will get a chance to get close and personal with some of these creatures!  Join us Wednesday, July 20th at 2:30 PM or 3:30 PM.  Tickets are required for this program.  Inquire at the front desk or call the library for more information.

Magic Show This Wednesday!

Hey kids, do you like magic?  Then join us for astounding tricks with Julian Franklin this Wednesday, July 6th at 2:30 pm in the children's area of the North Channel Library.  Julian Franklin will astound you with his magical feats!   And don't forget, it's not too late to sign up for the Summer Reading Program!  See you Wednesday.

Free Legal Clinic

Do you have a general legal question? Join us this Saturday, May 21st from 11 am to 12:30 pm for some legal guidance from a local lawyer on topics ranging from personal injury to landlord/tenant issues.

Princess and the Pea @ North Channel

 

Houston Grand Opera’s Opera to Go!  presents The Princess and the Pea. This comic opera retells the classic Hans Christian Andersen story of a heart-sick Prince searching for love in all the wrong places, his cantankerous mother, and a beautiful Princess, who against all odds finds her way into the hearts of the Kingdom.  Join us this Wednesday, April 20th at 3:30 pm in the children's area for this fun performance!

Become an Adult Literacy Tutor

 

How would you like to give a gift that can truly change somebody’s life?  The library is looking for individuals who want to learn how to be a literacy tutor to adults.  You can volunteer at any Harris County library branch and help someone learn how to read.  We will train you how to be an effective tutor.  The next training session will be at the North Channel library on Saturday, April 30th from 9 am to 1 pm.  To register, or for more information, please call the library at (281) 457-1631.

Business Plan Workshop

St. Patrick's Day Craft

Looking for something fun to do during Spring Break?  Come to the library on Wednesday, March 16th @ 2:30 for a fun St. Patrick's Day craft!  We will be creating Lucky Leprechaun Puppets.  See you there!
