Clay crafts at North Channel

The current Houston Museum of Fine Arts dispay, "Once Upon a Time: Telling Stories Through Clay," inspired a group North Channel kids as they created their own clay masterpieces at the September afterschool craft program on September 15th.  Kids made clay vases, pots, baskets, and even hot dogs!  Lots of fun was had by all!  Join us for our next afterschool craft program on October 6th as we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a Taste of the Americas and a Huichol Indian Yarn Craft.  See you then!

The museum of fine arts comes to north channel

The North Channel Library is enjoying a treat for the next couple of months.  Until November 8th, 2010, The North Channel Library  is hosting a travelling exhibit courtesy of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston entitled "Once Upon a Time: Telling Stories Through Clay."  The exhbition features 9 objects from the Garth Clark and Mark Del Vecchio Collection of contemporary ceramics.   You can learn more about this exhibit from the MFAH website.  Also, be sure to voice your opinion of the exhibit by emailing the MFAH at onceuponatime@mfah.org, and the museum will email you a complimentary pass!

North Channel will be closed for Labor Day

Like many of you out there, the North Channel Staff will be enjoying some down time during the Labor Day holiday as the library will be closed Sunday, September 4th and Monday, September 5th.  Since 1882, Labor Day has been celebrated in one way or another.  The North Channel staff hopes everyone has a fun and safe holiday.  We will see you when we re-open at regular hours on Tuesday, September 6th.
