It's a Whale of a Tale

You've probably heard by now that there will be a Finding Nemo sequel released in 2015 titled Finding Dory.  While I'm excited about a sequel to one of my favorite animated movies, I have to say 2015 is soooo long away!  What's a fish fan to do?  Read, of course!  Here are some of my favorite fishy books to help "tide" you over:

Board Game Day @ North Channel

Make a Faberge Egg

Celebrate Dr. Seuss @ North Channel

Calling all kids!  You'll want to come by the North Channel Branch Library this Friday, March 1st at 4:30 pm to create your own "Thing 1 and Thing 2" craft using your flubulous body to celebrate Read Across America Day and Dr. Seuss' birthday...then go "One Fish, Two Fishing" for a prize!

Para Los Ninos @ North Channel next week

para los ninosPlease join us next week for the Para los Ninos/For the Children Storytime with bilingual activities developed by the Children's Museum of Houston! This month's theme is Healthy Bodies & Healthy Minds. Each family attending will receive a pass for 4 people to the museum! February's Para los Ninos programs will be held on Tuesday, February 26th at 10:30 am and 1:30 pm. Groups please call in advance.
 

Staying Safe

With all of the active shooter news around the country the past few months, we wanted to share some resources you may find helpful.  First, we have a link to a short video produced by the Texas State Office of Risk Management on Active Shooter Emergency Preparedness.  There is a great deal of good information in the video, however please be aware that it may be disturbing to some viewers. 

For parents who want to talk with their children about staying safe, the library carries books which may help you discuss a variety of safety topics with them:
