Not for the Faint of Heart

Happy Halloween!

During October, many older children enjoy reading scary stories. I have collected a few items that I think you will enjoy. Please be aware, that these books are not for young children.

If you have a favorite scary book I would love to hear about it.  You can leave comments below, or come visit me at the library.  I love saying hi to my friends.

Houston's Garden Hot Spots

The financial downfall caused everyone in America to be more cautious of how they spend money. Like many other families, I decided to stay in Houston for my vacation.
I started gardening as a child, and I still adore digging in the dirt. When looking for something to do, it was perfectly natural for me to spend time at Mercer Arboretum.  Best of all, my visit to the arboretum was FREE!

Happy Birthday to Paul Fleischman

Birthdays are a time to celebrate. Since, Paul Fleischman's birthday was this month, I thought that it would be a great time to share a few of my favorite books by this author.

Paul Fleischman was awarded the Newbery Medal for his book: Joyful Noise: Poems for Two Voices in 1989Undoubtedly, this is his most famous work. I admire this book, but it may surprise you that it is not one of my personal favorites.
