Books in Bloom

The books listed below are ones that I enjoy reading each spring. My favorite book on this list is Miss Rumphius by Barbara Cooney. This story is about a little girl named Alice, who becomes Miss Rumphius, or  a.k.a. "the lupine lady." Her goal for herself and others is to make the world a more beautiful place. This classic picture book offers charming illustrations and a meaningful message for everyone.

Bird Haven for Earth Day

One of my New Year’s resolutions is to identify and appreciate the simple things in life.  A few weeks ago, I was reading in my study, when I noticed that the songbirds are back.  I am delighted they have returned to my garden, and realized how much I truly missed them during the cold "winter" months.

Sleep Tight Night Owls

I am going to tell you a secret that almost no one knows about me...  I adore owls!!! Needless to say, I have at least one owl themed storytime a year. Luckily, many children's authors  must also admire these wise little creature for there are several wonderful books in our system.

In case, you missed Family Storytime I thought that I would share a few of my favorite books with you....

Dr. Seuss

On March 2nd, Read Across America day will celebrate the life and works of the beloved author, Dr. Seuss.

As Kathleen's blog announced, celebrations will be held at all Harris County Public Libraries throughout the week.

I thought that it would be fun to list some of my favorite biographies on Dr. Seuss (Theodor Seuss Geisel). His life was just as amazing as his books.
