Tax Preparation Assistance Begins at the Barbara Bush Library

The AARP volunteers are once again ready to help customers prepare their tax returns.  Service is on a first come-first served basis.  All ages are welcome.  The volunteers will be available these hours:  Saturdays  10:00--4:00 and Mondays 1:00--8:00.

Climbing your family tree to do some family history research? Need to consult the U.S. Census? Come and learn how to use HeritageQuest and Ancestry.com at our Genealogy Research Database Demo on Friday, February 7 @ 11:00 AM in the Barbara Bush Library Friends Computer Lab.

These classes are popular so registration is required. You can register by going online to www.hcpl.net or by calling the library at 281-376-4610.  The address is 6817 Cypresswood Drive in Spring.
We are now offering Genealogical Research monthly. The date varies. Registration for each class opens 30 days prior to the class. Please call for the schedule. Classes presented by Reference Librarian Margaret Davis.

Workforce Solutions Job Search Seminars

Workforce Solutions will continue to offer semi-monthly Job Search Seminars at the Barbara Bush Branch Library. The seminars will be held from 1:30-3:30 in the Robin Bush Activity room on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month. Come and learn how to search for a job more effectively and learn how to make the most of your skills.

Advanced French: Wednesdays at 1:30

Leila, a volunteer French instructor has resumed her advanced French classes on Wednesdays.  The classes will be from 1:00-2:30pm. These are advanced classes so some knowledge of French is necessary. Come and improve your skill with the French language and make new friends. No registration is necessary, just drop in. The Barbara Bush Branch  library is at 6817 Cypresswood Drive in Spring.

Kindle eReader: We will examine features, download and read books on your mobile device, access your email / Internet.
Bring your Kindle, cables, and your Amazon password & user name if you have an Amazon account. You need an Amazon account to borrow a book.
You will need a library card to borrow a book from the Digital Catalog.
The class will be on Friday, January 3 at 10:00 AM in the Barbara Bush Library Friends Computer Lab. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration opens 30 days prior the class. Call 281-376-4610 to register.

Senior Classic Movie Morning Friday, December 20 @ 10:00 AM

Come and watch a movie from the "good old days".  December's selection is a Christmas movie from 1947 starring Don Defore, Ann Harding, Charlie Ruggles and Gale Storm.
Due to licensing restrictions we are not able to promote the title of the movie. Call 281-376-4610 for the title. The next Senior Classic Movie Morning will be Friday, January 3rd. Did you purchase a Kindle recently? If you have a Kindle, Kindle Fire, Kindle Keyboard, Kindle Touch or Kindle Paperwhite you can download e-books from the Harris County Public Library’s Digital Media Catalog. Come to the session December 10 at 11:00 to learn how to download E-Books to your device. The Kindle demo will be held in the 2nd floor Barbara Bush Library Friends Computer Lab.
