Free Computer Classes at the Barbara Bush Branch Library

Dave Smith, computer instructor, will be teaching seven different computer classes at the library in April and May. The classes are Computer Basics, Introduction to the Internet, Email, MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher.

Workforce Solutions will continue with their Job Search Seminars in the Barbara Bush Branch Library in April 2013.  Let them help you improve your job search skills such as, interviewing tips, how to write resumes and cover letters, and how to best highlight your skills.  No registration is required.  Just drop in.  Call 281-376-4610 if you have questions.  The seminars will be held on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month from 1:30—3:30 pm.

Kindle E-Book Demo

Did you purchase a Kindle recently?  If you have a Kindle Fire, Kindle Keyboard, Kindle Touch or Kindle Paperwhite you can download e-books from the Harris County Public Library's Digital Media Catalog.  Come to the session April 9 at 11:00 am to learn how to download E-Books to your device.  The Kindle demo will be held in the 2nd floor Barbara Bush Library Friends Computer Lab.

Bring your Kindle device, all cables and all passwords.

This class is now offered on the 2nd Tuesday  of each month at 11:00 am.  Registration is required.  Call 281-376-4610.  Registration opens 30 days prior to the class.

iPads at Barbara Bush Library

iPads are now available to checkout in-house for 2 hours at the Barbara Bush Library. For more information and to checkout iPads, ask at the second floor Information Desk. 

AARP VolunteerTax Help---March 1 to April 15

  Mondays  1- 8 pm    Saturdays 10am - 4pm

Many tax forms are now available in the circulation lobby on the first floor. AARP will be providing free tax return assistance through Monday, April 15. First come, first served. Call 281-376-4610 if you have questions about this service. The tax volunteers will not be able to answer tax questions over the phone.

Senior Classic Movie Friday, March 15@10:00am

This month we will be showing a film from 1951, starring Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron. Kelly is a struggling artist and ex-GI in post WWII Paris.  Caron is a lonely French shop girl, engaged to marry a successful entertainer unless Kelly can convince her otherwise.

Senior Classic Movie is held on the 3rd Friday of the month in the Earl Elliott Meeting Room. Come with a friend.

Genealogical Research Database Demo

Climbing your family tree to do some family history research?  Need to consult the U. S. Census?  Come and learn how to use HeritageQuest and Ancestry.com at our Genealogy Research Database Research Demo on Friday, March 1 @ 11:00 am in the Barbara Bush Library Friends Computer Lab.
