I LOVE MY LIBRARY

I cannot imagine my life without the library.  Mom always tooks us when we were children.  I naturally took my own children.  Now I work at the library.  What a nice place to work. But, really, it's all about the books.  It's about the joy of reading.  It's about the people you meet and the places you go in a book.  There is always one more book to read.  The best part is, IT'S FREE. I found a great site for those of you who love the library as much as I do, ilovemylibrary.org. They have a wonderful page where you can calculate the value of your library experience.

THE LIBRARY CHALLENGE

THE LIBRARY CHALLENGE One of my personal treats in the summer is participating in the Adult Summer Reading Program. I‘m not competing with anyone but myself, and I don’t set my goal too high to reach. While I do not read as much my friends and co-workers, I do enjoy reading. I have my favorite authors and do not step too far from regular fiction, romance and mystery. So in the summer, I challenge myself to read something outside of my norm. One year I read a western. I enjoyed it. Last year I tried a fiction that took place in another continent. I enjoyed that one too. This year I am going to stretch myself with a fantasy. I don’t plan to switch all my reading to a different genre, just sprinkle a little in with my regular stuff. You know, like salt and pepper, just to add a little flavor in my summer.

GOING ON A TREASURE HUNT

 I have always love things that are shiny and glittery. I love to discover buried treasure. I especially love to find something old and restore it to new life.
Maud Smith Marks Library is a great place to discover buried treasure. I love to browse the shelves and find a book I never knew about and discover it is my new most favorite book. A person could do that everyday and always find a book you never heard of before. It might be a new author, a book in a series you missed, a classic you always wanted to read. I have discovered my favorite author in the whole library

THE BEAR-NECESSITIES IN MAUD SMITH MARKS LIBRARY

At Maud Smith Marks Library we think it is a just a “Bear Necessity” to have a comfortable place to read and a good book to read. We are happy when our readers are happy. So come in. Look around for a nice cozy place and enjoy.

Our children’s programs are a part of our regular programming. That means we do no change the time or day. You can depend on it to be in place whenever you wish to bring you child.
