Teens: Gear Up For Video Game Jam 2010!

With only 3 weeks left until the end of the Summer Reading Program, the countdown for Video Game Jam 2010 begins! On Saturday, August 7th from 5-7pm, teens will take over the Atascocita Library for an evening of video games, pizza and prizes. How do you get tickets for this event? First, register for the Teen Summer Reading Program and make sure you list the Atascocita Library as your branch. Second, read 15 books or 1800 minutes and log them either online or on paper. Third, drop by the library to pick up your prizes and permission slip for the event. Your permission slip must be turned in by Friday, August 6th.

Teens: Countdown to Camp Anime

The countdown is on and there is only a week left until this year's Camp Anime. Every year, anime fans gather at the library for a week of programs, prizes and Pocky.

Spaces are still available for Cosplay Sewing on Tuesday, June 22nd at 3pm so sign up today! No registration is required for the Wednesday, June 23rd Voice Acting workshop at 3pm or the Cosplay Runway Challenge on Thursday, June 24th at 7pm.

Teens: Learn Magic @ the Library!

Stop the presses! We have a last minute addition to our Teen Summer Reading schedule! Julian Franklin of Library Rat Productions will be dropping in on Wednesday, June 16th at 3pm for a Magic Workshop. Learn tricks to impress your friends and family! Dazzle the girl or boy of your dreams with your magic prowess! This program is for tweens and teens (ages 10-18) only. Sign up today since space is limited!

Get Your Manga Fix Online @ HCPL

With temperatures reaching 100 degrees this weekend, the last thing you want to do is get out of the house and make a trek to your local library. So what's an otaku to do when you have a manga craving? Boot up your computer and head over to HCPL's Digital Media Catalog to check out our new downloadable line of manga and graphic novels.

Teens: Get the (Summer Reading) Party Started This Friday!

Get your party on at the library this Friday, June 4th starting at 3pm. Our Teen Summer Reading Kickoff Party features pizza, prizes and video games! Get a prize when you register for the Teen Summer Reading Program that day. Throughout the afternoon, we will also have random prize drawings and contests. Don't miss it!

What Are You Doing This Summer?

With only a handful of school days remaining, you may ask yourself, "What am I going to do this summer?" Well, you may not have as much fun as Scott (left) this summer, but you can always find wonderul things happening at your library! Check our your branch's events online here or drop by the branch for a flyer.

In addition to events, you can register for the Summer Reading Program right on this website or at your library starting June 4th. Read 5 books or 600 minutes for a certificate. Ask about additional prizes and reading levels while you are at the library.

Wanted: Teen Volunteers

It's that time of year again. Time to think about sand, surf, and the library! Okay, maybe you are thinking more about summer vacation than you are volunteer opportunities but now is the time to get your application in for the VolunTeen program at the Atascocita Branch Library. Applications for the first summer session (June 7-July 10th) are due by May 22nd. Mandatory orientation will take place on Thursday, June 3rd at 4pm. Drop by the branch and pick up your application today!

FOAL Book Sale This Weekend!

Join us on Friday and Saturday (April 23rd and 24th) for the Friends of the Atascocita Library book sale! Friends members can enjoy early bird shopping on Friday, April 23rd from 5-7pm. Not a member? No problem! Memberships are available at the door. The sale is open to the public on Saturday, April 24th starting at 10am.

In addition to a variety of books, you can also find DVDs, CDs, and VHS tapes. Don't miss it!
