Staff Picks: The Eyre Affair

Take a literary detective named Thursday with a pet dodo and a rogue time-traveling father. Send her after a master criminal who can warp perception. Throw in meteor-catching, street corner Shakespearean monologue machines, vampres, werewolves and  a bureaucrat worried about budgets and you have scarcely scratched the surface of the delightful weirdness that is "The Eyre Affair" by Jasper Fforde.

Staff Picks: White Cat

Cassel grew up in a family of curse workers—each able to exercise extraordinary powers with a touch. As the only member of the family without such powers he has always felt left out. But when haunting dreams and sleepwalking shatter the “normal” life he has tried to build for himself, when strange and incongruent memories begin to call everything in to question how will he find a solid path to the future? Find out in White Cat by Holly Black.
