Pearl Harbor History

Mr. AaronWe have all heard the FDR quote, "Yesterday, December 7, 1941—a date which will live in infamy—the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked..." Mr. Aaron Cook, library volunteer with over 700 hours of service to the Northwest Branch, is one of those honorable men of World War II.

This Day in History

Today in History

One of my favorite books as a child was an annual that highlighted Today in History. I remember looking up my birthday, my sisters' birthday, my parents' birthday, my best friend's birthday, my teacher's birthday, my dog's birthday. (Well... ya get the picture!). Now, this type of information is just at your fingertips! Check out some of these sites:

Common Question - - Answered.

With holiday travel on the horizon, I am getting more and more digital book questions. One of the primary questions is "What device do I need to get to be able to use the library's Overdrive Collection?". You just need a computer to be able to use the collection, but to make your eBooks and audio and video files portable you will have to get an electronic device! The library's collection is compatible with several electronic devices; including but not limited to iPads, iPhones, iPods, Sony Readers, Nooks, various mp3 players like Coby and Creative devices, etc... For full details, visit Overdrive or contact the library.

Cyrano de Bergerac with a Contemporary Twist

Panama

While on a recent visit home to Panama, Northwest Library Patron and Community Educator, Nidya Pitti Granadino, worked with several local children in preparation for the wonderful art show that is currently on display in the library. On November 13th, Nidya will be at our library to discuss the process and to teach about the beautiful country of Panama! Learn about the food, the folks and the cultural importance of Panama on our greater global community. All ages are welcome to attend.
