Brothers Grimm - A Spooky Classic

Brothers Grimm

Join us on Monday, October 25th @ 2:00 pm for Classic Readers Book Club. We will be discussing the fairytales of the Brothers Grimm. Why fairytales in October? Well, many of our modern day "Disney-ized" tales have some darker origins. The Brothers Grimm wrote and documented tales of Cinderella, Rapunzel, Snow White and Little Red Riding Hood. You might be surprised at the original text! They are often VERY different than those animated cartoons we all know and love.

Are you ready for some...

GhostHalloween fun? Here's what's going on at the library on Saturday, October 30th.

10:30 AM Storytime and Craft
11:00 AM Spooky Sounds of Cypress Concert Band
12:00 PM Henna Body Art (Parental permission required!)
2:00 PM Halloween Costume Party and Games

So, if you want a safe place to trick-o-treat...a good time for all... and free games and prizes... Why not celebrate at the library!

Give thanks! Visit our Giving Tree.

Thanksgiving

What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving season? Share your gratitude with us. Come into the library and fill out a "leaf". Write down who or what you are thankful for. We will add it to our ever-changing and ever-growing tree display. By Thanksgiving, the tree will be in full bloom with our collective gratitude.

A Night at the Museum

MFAH LogoLast night, I had the pleasure of attending Museum of Fine Arts, Houston's celebration of education and community partners. At this event, Harris County Public Library received A Place For All People Award. This distinction is awarded to community collaborators for longtime dedication to the arts and education. Over the years, the library has partnered with the museum for various programs. Several branches have hosted weeklong Summer Art Camps, taken free bus trips to the museum, as well as transformed library public spaces into temporary art galleries for traveling art exhibits. The benefits to our community extend beyond the library branch.

We look forward to seeing you in the library!
