ButterfliesToday is Holocaust Remembrance Day. Please take a moment to learn, reflect and remember the six million victims. Visit the Holocaust Museum Houston (HMH) and watch personal stories of the brave survivors. A simple way to remember is to participate in the HMH Butterfly Project.

Meet Gwendolyn, Northwest Branch Reference Librarian Extraordinaire. Gwendolyn has been at Northwest for about two years now, but has been part of the library system for over a decade. Gwendolyn runs two book clubs here at Northwest; Reader’s Perspective Book Club for General Fiction & Hallelujah It’s a Book Club for Inspirational Fiction. She is also our in-resident Computer Class Instructor. You can catch her classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 10:00 AM. No sign up is needed and all programs are free and open to the public. So, next time you are in the library… Stop on by and say, “Hi!”.

Calling All Crafty Adults

CraftersDid you know that the library has an Adult Seasonal Craft Session? Just show up on the second Monday of the month at 2:00 pm! All adults are invited to participate. We have made various craft items: handpainted bowls, earrings, flower pendants, decorated magnets, personalized cards, etc. So, if you are a crafter or you are creative person and looking for a crafting group, stop on by. No sign up required.

Woody, is that you?

The library woodpecker has returned. Spring is around the corner!! For several years (at least since the mid-90s), there has been a woodpecker that comes to visit the library. While he is probably not the same woodpecker, at least one bird comes each and every year. To watch video of the woodpecker, visit our video player on the Northwest Branch website.
