NEW ANIME BOOK CLUB

On Thursday, April 20 at 4:30 p.m. the Katy Branch Library will hold the first meeting of their new Anime Club for Tweens and Teens.  Find out the latest news in the anime world, discuss your favorite manga, watch some anime and play some games. Snacks provided.

The Pages by the Pint Book Club will be held at No Label Brewery on Tuesday, April 11 at 8 PM! Join us for beer, books, and bonding. Our first book is Life After Life by Kate Atkinson.  Please bring your own lawn chair to the book club as seating is limited. Outside food and non-alcoholic drinks are welcome. See you there!

BASKETS AND BUNNIES IN KATY

Kids can celebrate with the Easter bunny on Saturday, April 8 at Katy City Park, 5720 Franz Road at Avenue D.  The event held from 9:00 a.m. to noon will feature games, activities, crafts and pictures with the Easter bunny.

KATY FOLK LIFE FESTIVAL

Learn how the pioneers in the early 1800’s lived at the 32nd annual Katy Folk Life Festival on Saturday, April 1.  The Katy ISD Outdoor Learning Center will be transformed into scenes of the 1800’s with demonstrations of pioneer crafts and activities.  The event takes place at 6301 Stadium Lane from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  For more information click here to visit their website.

PAGES BY THE PINT BOOK CLUB

 

For all you night owls and social butterflies, we have a new book club coming in April! The Pages by the Pint Book Club will be held at No Label Brewery on Tuesday, April 11 at 8 PM! FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY BOOK SALE

Are you looking for some great bargains and a way to help the library?  Stop by the Katy Branch Library on Saturday, March 18 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for the Friends of the Library Book Sale.  Adult Hardcover books will sell for $1.00, paperbacks will sell for 50 cents, and all children’s books will be 3 for $1.00.  The book sale will also include DVDs, which will sell for $1.00.  All of the profits from the book sale go to support the library’s programs.

KATY GARDEN CLUB

t’s time to start your spring planting!  If you need help getting started, come to the Katy Library Garden Club on Thursday, March 9 at 11:00 a.m.  We’ll be presenting our new garden books and sharing ideas and tips for our gardens.  The Katy Garden Club meets the second Thursday of every month.

eBOOKS, ONLINE MAGAZINES AND MOVIES

Did you know your library card gives you access to movies, TV shows, and magazines, as well as books?  Our eMedia class on Saturday, March 4 at 1:000 p.m. will go over how to download FREE books and magazines from Overdrive. Also, learn how to stream movies/TV shows on Hoopla. Bringing your mobile devices (iPad/Android/Kindle, etc.) is optional but recommended.

Do you enjoy collecting, knitting, model building, or are you looking for a new idea to do crafts with your child?  Harris County Public Library has a Hobbies and Crafts Reference Center database that you can access anytime.  Just go to www.hcpl.net, click on Databases, and Crafts and Home to find the Hobby and Craft Reference Center to see the wonderful resources and ideas available.

TEEN BOOK CLUB

The Teen book club will meet Tuesday, February 14 at 4:30 p.m.  This month’s book selection is, It Ain’t so Awful, Falafel by Firoozeh Dumas.  All teens are invited to join us for yummy snacks and a fun discussion.
