TEEN SUMMER READING PARTY

 

The Katy Library will hold its last summer program for teens and tweens on Monday, August 4 at 2:30 p.m.  The celebration will include food and games, including the Dance 4 Wii.  Don’t forget the last day to log your books is Saturday, August 9.

BALLOON ROCKET CARS

Teens at the Katy Branch Library made some awesome Balloon Rocket Cars Monday in our teen program.  Due to their ingenuity and creativity several of the cars flew swiftly across the room.

KATY MARKET DAYS

Are you looking for fresh, local produce?  Look no further than downtown Katy.  This Saturday, July 19, as well as the third Saturday of every month, Katy holds their market days.  Located between 2nd Street and Avenue B, Old Town Katy Market Days was established in 2001 and has been growing ever since.  After picking up your local produce, stop by the Katy Library and check out one of our many cookbooks to

KATY KNOTTY & NICE CLUB

Do you like to knit or crochet?  Would you like to learn this fun, relaxing craft?  The Katy Knotty and Nice Club is the place to do both.  The group meets every Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the library’s meeting room.  Bring your project to work on or bring some yarn and needles, and our experienced knitters will get you started.

YAY! IT'S ICE CREAM MONTH!

July is National ice cream month, so be sure to cool down with a cold, sweet treat this month.  Learn more about the National designation, the history of ice cream, as well as some yummy recipes at ice-cream-recipes.com.  Enjoy!

TEENS: CELEBRATE INDEPENDENCE DAY

Teens celebrate Independence Day in our teen program on Monday, June 30 at 2:30 p.m.  Create patriotic designs with chalk art and make a flag windchime.  Don't forget to log your books or the minutes you have read in our Summer Reading Program,  Spark a Reaction.

 

SUMMER TEEN PROGRAMS

 

 

Teens had a great time at our Lego Challenge on Monday.  Teen summer programs are held every Monday at 2:30 in the Katy Library Meeting Room.  On Monday, June 23, teens will learn the art of Zentangle.   

FINANCIAL WELLNESS

Do you need help with creating a budget or help finding ways to save money?  This workshop will help you figure it all out.  Saturday, June 21 at 12:30 in the Katy Library’s meeting room.  

WANTED: HIGH SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS

Help the Katy Library this summer and get those needed service hours.
Pick up an application at the Info Desk, and attend one orientation session.
Sessions will be held on Friday, June 6, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and
Wednesday, June 11, 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Volunteer opportunities include shelving and assisting with storytimes, programs, and computer classes.

SUMMER FUN FOR TEENS

The Katy Library will be offering programs for teens and tweens, ages 10 and up, every Monday afternoon starting June 9.  These programs will include a Lego challenge, creative projects, and more.  Check our online calendar for individual programs.
