GENEALOGY SQUAD

Hone your research skills with our genealogy webinar this month.  The topic on Monday, May 18 will be: Top 10 Genealogy Tips.  The Genealogy Squad meets every Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. with special lessons on the last Monday of every month.

ASIAN PACIFIC HERITAGE PROGRAM

On Saturday, May 2, the Katy Branch Library celebrated the Korean culture.  The program included food tasting, dancing, martial arts, music, and beautiful traditional costumes.  The program was a huge success!

PAWS IN THE PARK

Bring your dog out for some fun at the annual Spring Fling in the Katy Dog Park.  This year’s event will be held on Saturday, May 2 from 9:00 to noon.  Pet registration and pet photography will be available. Admission to the event is one can or bag of dog food per dog which will be donated to a local shelter.  

KNOTTY AND NICE CLUB

Do you like to knit or crochet?  Would you like to learn this fun, relaxing craft?  The Katy Knotty and Nice Club is the place to do both.  The group meets every Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the library’s meeting room.  Bring your project to work on or bring some yarn and needles, and our experienced knitters will get you started.

KEEP KATY BEAUTIFUL/TRASH OFF DAY

Katy is joining the state wide event, Texas Trash Off, to be held Saturday, April 11.  Volunteers may register with Keep Katy Beautiful to join this community event to pick up litter and debris along roadsides and local parks.  Participants will receive cleaning supplies and will be invited to an After Trash Bash to celebrate this community event.  For more information, please e-mail KKB@cityofkaty.com.

EASTER HOLIDAY

Hop to library by Thursday this week.  The Katy Branch Library will close early on Thursday, April 2 at 5:00 p.m. and remain closed until Monday, April 6 for the Easter Holiday.

CELEBRATING DR. SEUSS

The Katy Library is embracing Dr. Seuss this month.  Stop by the library and see our great display of Truffula trees and check out a Seuss book. Remember:You're never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child.

BOOK SALE SATURDAY!

Fill up your bookshelves with the Friends of the Katy Library Book Sale this Saturday, March 14.  It’s a great opportunity to purchase books at a fantastic price and support the Katy Library.  Adult hardbacks will sell for $1.00, paperbacks for 50 cents, and children’s books 3 for $1.00. The Book Sale will be held at the Katy VFW Hall, 6202 George Bush Dr. from 9:00 a.m.

REPURPOSING IN YOUR GARDEN

Looking for ways to get creative in your garden?  Join us at the Katy Garden Club on Thursday, March 12 at 11:00 a.m. Learn ways to repurpose household items into the garden to create your own unique look.

Whether you are looking to type a paper, compose a letter, or make a homemade greeting card, Microsoft Word is the program for you.  Learn the basic layout of the program on Monday, March 2 from 10:00 to 12:00.  Already know a little bit about Word?
