The Katy Branch Library will be open from 1:00 pm TO 8:00 pm on Halloween, Wednesday, October 31.  Stop by the library for a sweet treat, check out our decorated pumpkins and say hello to Sherlock Bones.       

   

KIDS ROBOTICS ACADEMY

  The Kids Robotic Academy will come to the Katy Branch Library once again to introduce children to the amazing world of   robotics. Kids will learn the process of designing, building, and programming a robot, which will be capable of doing incredible things! Saturday, October 20, 11:00 to 12:00 p.m. Registration is required. Stop by the Reference Desk or call 281-391-3509 to register.

DON'T FORGET TO REGISTER TO VOTE!

The last day to register to vote for the November presidential election is Tuesday, October 9.  The Katy Branch Library has voter registration applications for those living in Harris County.  If you live in one of the other nearby counties, we can help you print out the application.  Applications can be found on the following website,  http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/voter/reqvr.shtml.

BACK TO SCHOOL BLUES

School starts next week, and if your little one needs a little encouragement about starting school for the first time, or starting a new school, the Katy Branch Library has just the right books for reassurance.

    In Lauren Child’s, I Am Too Absolutely Small for School, Lola’s brother reassures her of the fun she’ll have.

SUMMER ART CAMP

Calling all budding artists!  The Houston Museum of Fine Arts will be holding art camp at the Katy Branch Library on July 9 - 13. from 10:00 a.m. to noon.  Registration is required and is limited to 25 students, ages 8 to 12.  Investigate works of art from Picasso to Francois Pascal Simon Gerard and create your own work of art.  Stop by the library's reference desk to register.   

FAMILY STORYTIME

Family Storytime will be Wednesday, May 16 at 6:30 p.m. and will feature stories, songs and crafts for all ages.  This month's craft is a bird feeder to hang in your backyard.  

AN AFTERNOON OF ASIAN CRAFTS

The Katy Branch Library will celebrate Asian Pacific Heritage month with an afternoon of crafts on Saturday, May 12 from 1:00 to 3:00.  Stop by the library and try your skills with a tangram and origami, or make a dragon puppet or a colorful lei.
