COMPUTER CODING BASICS

Are you interested in learning computer coding?  Learn basic coding on Wednesday, March 30 at 4:30 p.m. in the Katy Library Computer Lab. Coding will be taught using a fun, self-paced Star Wars game from code.org.  Basic computer knowledge is recommended.

The Katy Branch Library will close at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 24 and remained closed through the weekend.  The library will open on Monday, March 29 at 10:00 a.m. with regular library hours.

FREE TAX HELP WITH AARP

There are only a few weeks left to get your taxes done.  The AARP Volunteers will be at the Katy Branch Library on Tuesdays, March 22, March 29, April 5, and April 12 from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. to help you file your taxes.  Help is available on a first come, first served basis.  Please arrive by 3:00 p.m. to ensure your place in line.

USING PINTEREST

Pinterest is a visual tool that you can use to find ideas for all your projects.  It allows you to not only discover creative ideas but to organize and save them.  Learn how it works on Saturday, March 12 at 1:00 p.m. in the Katy Library Computer Lab.  No registration is necessary, but basic computer proficiency is required.

RAINBOW ROWELL FANS

This month’s teen book club will be discussing Rainbow Rowell’s novel, Fangirl.  Join us on Tuesday, March 8 at 5:30 p.m. for a lively discussion and yummy snacks!  The teen book club meets the second Tuesday of every month.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DR. SEUSS

Celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday with us on Wednesday, March 2, 4:10 p.m. 

Watch a Dr. Seuss movie and have some birthday cake!  

TAX TIME

We have received the 1040, 1040A, and 1040EZ forms and instruction booklets.  They are located in the library lobby.  The AARP volunteers will be here on Tuesdays from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. to help you prepare your taxes.  It is a first come, first served basis, so be prepared to wait.  Please be here by 3:00 p.m. to ensure your place in line.

COMPUTER MOUSE PRACTICE

If you’re new to using a computer mouse, it can take a little time getting the hang of it.  Practice your mouse skills at our Mousercise class on Saturday, February 13 at 1:00 p.m.  There will be a presentation followed by plenty of fun practice games that will improve your dexterity and make you a pro in no time!

YOUNG ADULT BOOK CLUB

Hey teens, join us for a lively discussion of The Book Thief, Tuesday, February 9 at 5:30 p.m.  Haven’t read the book, come anyway to help select books for future meetings.

SPANISH BOOK CLUB/CLUB DE LIBROS HISPANOS

Join the Katy Library’s Spanish Book Club for lively book discussions the first Wednesday of each month.  The club will meet Wednesday, February 3 at 6:00 p.m. to discuss Detras de la Lluvia by Joaquin M. Barrero.
