DUCKLINGS

    It's springtime, and the ducklings are swimming in the pond at Mary Jo Peckham Park. Stop by the library with your children and check out some of our books on ducks, then head over to the park to watch the real live ducklings.  Keep in mind, though, that bread is not a nutritious meal for ducks. Please do not feed them bread.

OPERA AT THE LIBRARY

The Katy Branch Library is pleased to have The Houston Grand Opera  perform, The Clever Wife, on Monday April 23 at 4:00 pm.  Based on a popular Chinese folktale, this opera explores the difference between wisdom and knowledge when a young wife must rescue her foolish husband from a magistrate's impossible tasks.  Don't miss this amazing free performance!

CELEBRATE SPRING!

Celebrate spring in our Family Storytime on Wednesday, April 18 at 6:30 p.m.  Family storytime features stories, songs, and a craft for children of all ages.

BIRTHDAY BASH

The Katy Library will be holding it’s annual birthday celebration on Saturday, April 21 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.  There will be face painting and games galore, including a Wii, iPad games, and board games. Put this on your calendar, you won’t want to miss it!

KATY FOLK LIFE FESTIVAL

Discover how the pioneers of Texas lived at the Katy Folk Life Festival on March 31 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Outdoor Learning Center, 6301 S. Stadium Lane.

FAMILY STORYTIME

 

Leap into the future with Family Storytime on Wednesday, March 21 at 6:30 pm.   Children will enjoy hearing the book, If I Had a Robot.  Family storytime includes active songs and fun crafts,  and is held on the third Wednesday of each month at 6:30.   

 

 

SPRING GARDENING WITH KIDS

Are you looking for ways to keep your kids busy next week during spring break?  Why not get them started on a garden.  The Katy Branch Library has numerous books on gardening with children.

 Calling all Love Bugs!   Come celebrate the Valentine season in Family Storytime,  Wednesday, February 15, 6:30 p.m. Family storytime is held the 3rd Wednesday of each month and features stories, songs and a craft. 

 

FAMILY STORYTIME IS BACK!

   Celebrate the New Year at the Katy Branch Library’s Family Storytime on Wednesday, January  18, 6:30 p.m.  We’ll be celebrating with songs and stories and creating awesome dragon masks.  All ages are welcome.

RING IN THE NEW YEAR WITH A GOOD BOOK

   Hey, kids, ring in the New Year with one of our new books.   Sarah Weeks novel, Pie is a delicious mystery.   When Alice's Aunt Polly passes away, she takes with her the secret to her world-famous pie-crust recipe. Or does she?  In her will, she leaves the recipe to her disagreeable fat cat Lardo and leaves Lardo in the care of Alice.  Everyone in the community is clamoring for the recipe, and it’s up to Alice to discover the ingredients.  Fourteen pie recipes are in included.  YUM!
