Spring Student Art Exhibit

The Lone Star College-CyFair Spring 2010 Student Art Exhibition is April 27 - May 6, in the Center for the Arts Bosque Gallery.

Opening reception is Thursday, April 29, from 4:40-6:30pm.

Regular gallery hours are Tuesday-Thursday, 11:00am-2:00pm.  Admittance is free.  Call 832-482-1038 for more information.

Massage in the Library

Relax and Unwind in the Library! On Wednesdays, April 28 and May 5 from 3:30 PM-6:30 PM on the library's first floor, massage therapy students will provide chair massages. Ask questions about the summer massage therapy program while you de-stress.

The Census is Coming, The Census is Coming!

Ok, the Census is already here, so remember it's not just a gigantic roll-call to see who's present. It means big bucks! The Census statistics help the government distribute more than $400 billon dollars a year in federal funds to communities to fund hospitals, schools, job training, new roads, and more.  That's more than $4 trillion dollars over a 10-year period.

In the 2000 Census, it's estimated that more than 1 million people of color were not counted. In Harris County (Houston), Tx, an estimated 71,592 people were not counted, which resulted in a loss of $234.4 million dollars in federal funds for our local communities. donate blood signThe Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center Bloodmobile will be outside the library on Tuesday, March 2, from 10am-1pm.  Remember, you can give blood once every three months.  What's so special about your blood type?  Check out Type Matters, to learn more about how your specific blood type can help others. 

Convert Your Files Online with Zamzar

caterpillar butterfly imageOne question I often get asked working in the library, is how to convert files from one file type to another.  For example, many companies will request that you send documents (a resume, perhaps) in a PDF format, but most likely your document is currently in a Microsoft Word format.  With Zamzar, you can easily convert from Word to PDF in less than a minute (no scanner hardware needed!).
