I Beat the OddsThe weather is not yet crisp and cool, but football season has started nonetheless.  Here are some fiction and nonfiction audiobooks featuring football players and coaches to bring on the team spirit:

Fall Begins Sunday!

It's Fall!Maybe the weather will be cooler or maybe it will still be hot -- but Fall begins this Sunday, September 22, and at Preschool Storytime on Tuesday, September 24, 11 am, we will hear some stories about Fall.  Come join us as we all sing, dance, and decorate a leaf in celebration of the new season!

Spice Train: Peru

Peruvian CuisineWhat do people in Peru like to eat? 

Come find out this Monday, September 23, at 6 pm, as Baldwin Boettcher's Spice Train travels to Peru for a special program celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month.  You can sample some favorite Peruvian dishes, visit with library staff and your neighbors, and listen to Latin music.  Ahhh!  Sounds fun!

Mission RoadJoin us as we read and discuss another fine mystery:  Mission Road by Rick Riordan.  We'll meet on October 7, 6:30 pm, and newcomers are always welcome.  Copies of the book are available at the library.

Celebrate the Great Outdoors at Storytime!

leavesIt's time for Storytime in the Garden!  This storytime is for all children and their parents, and we meet at 10:30 am on the third Monday of each month (that's September 16!) right next door to the library in beautiful Mercer Arboretum.  This Monday's theme:  Fall!

And on Tuesday, September 17, at the 11 am Preschool Storytime, we'll continue our outdoor theme by enjoying some fine picture books about picnics!  Preschool Storytime is recommended for children ages 3-6 years old.  Come have fun with us next week!

Listen Up, Me Hearties!

pirateYes, we'll be hearin' some pirate tales at Pre-School Storytime on the morn of Tuesday, the tenth o' September!  We're to gather 'round at 11 o'clock in the Baldwin Boettcher meeting room, so don't tarry or you'll be missin' some of the fun!  Arrrrrgh!!

Come join us and listen to some lovely stories as we learn all about rain.  This storytime is recommended for children ages 3-6 years old.  We'll also sing and dance, so come prepared to have fun!

The Anatomist's ApprenticeThis historical mystery, first in a new series by Tessa Harris, opens with American physician Thomas Silkstone in London, 1780, to study surgery.  Thomas plans to learn and then return to America to practice, but the suspicious death of a libertine nobleman takes him away from bustling London to a country estate, where he will use his medical knowledge – and what we would today call forensic science – to solve a crime.

Start Saving Henry!Come to the library next Tuesday, August 27, at 11:00 am, for Pre-School Storytime!  This week's theme:  Money.  Miss Bonnie has some fun stories picked out, and she and the whole staff look forward to seeing you!  Pre-School Storytime is a year-round program for children 3-6 years old, featuring stories, songs, fingerplays and an occasional craft.
