Creative Art Club for Adults, Wednesday Afternoons at 1:30 pm

Studies have shown that creating art can help lower anxiety levels, reduce stress, and prevent boredom. Come and join us at the Northwest Branch Library and get in touch with your creative side. Zentangle, drawing, and other creative approaches will be practiced. This program is free and open to the public.This program takes place on Wednesday afternoons at 1:30pm. Yoga for Adults, Wednesday Evenings at 6:15 pm

Beginner level YOGA class every Wednesday evening at 6:15pm. Yoga is a system of physical exercises, breath control, and meditation aimed at attaining bodily and mental control and well-being. The word “yoga” comes from the Sanskrit word Yuj, meaning to “yoke,” “join,” or “unite.” The word implies joining or integrating all aspects of the body with the mind to achieve a healthy and balanced life. Volunteer instructors are needed to teach English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, citizenship, and adult literacy in our community.  Training and materials are provided along with flexible scheduling. Make a difference in your community today. The Northwest Branch Library will be closed on Indepenence Day

The Northwest Branch Library will be closed Wednesday, July 4th, 2018 in observance  of Independence Day. The library will resume normal operating hours at 10:00am on Thursday, July 5th, 2018. Electronic Resources will be available during the closure, customers can return their items via the after hours bookdrop. Congress established Independence Day as a holiday in 1870, and in 1938 Congress reaffirmed it as a paid holiday for federal employees. Today, communities across the nation mark this major midsummer holiday with parades, firework displays, picnics and performances of "The Star-Spangled Banner" and marches by John Philip Sousa.
