Thanksgiving Holiday Hours

The Northwest Branch Library Thanksgiving Holiday hours are:

  • Wednesday, November 22nd, close at 5:00pm
  • Thursday, November 23rd, closed
  • Friday, November 24th, closed
  • Saturday, November 25th, closed

The Northwest Branch Library will resume normal operating hours on Monday, November 27th, the branch will be open for business at 1:00pm. In the meantime, materials can be returned to this location via the after hours drop box, which is located to the left of the entrance doors. Customers will have access to to Overdrive, databases, and the other electronic resources during the holiday closure. Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving.

Community Swap Shop-Winter Coats, Clothes and Holiday Cheer!

WINTER COATS, CLOTHES AND HOLIDAY CHEER! We're back to school and the kids have grown again. Shed outgrown coats for new sizes or styles.Exchange long sleeves and accessories to keep out the chill. Prepare for fall and the winter holidays by swapping out decor.

Workforce Solutions October Sessions

Workforce solutions staff will be onsite to discuss topics such as the energy industry, managing stress, interviewing, beating long-term unemployment, resumes, skill evaluation and making connections. Workforce solutions staff will be onsite during the month of October on the following dates: October 5th and October 19th at 1:00pm.

The Gulf Coast Workforce Board and its operating affiliate Workforce Solutions, are the public workforce system in the 13-county Houston-Galveston region of Texas. Workforce Solutions help employers meet their human resource needs and individuals build careers, so both can compete in the global economy. During 2016, Workforce Solutions served more than 400,000 people and look forward to serving more in the coming year.

2017 Gulf Coast Reads Book Discussion "News of the World" by Paulette Jiles

This is a special Gulf Coast Reads book discussion of "News of the World" by Paulette Jiles. The discussion will be held on October 23rd at 2:00pm at the Northwest Branch Library. In the aftermath of the Civil War, an aging itinerant news reader agrees to transport a young captive of the Kiowa back to her people in this exquisitely rendered, morally complex, multilayered novel of historical fiction from the author of Enemy Women that explores the boundaries of family, responsibility, honor, and trust.In the wake of the Civil War, Captain Jefferson Kyle Kidd travels through northern Texas, giving live readings from newspapers to paying audiences hungry for news of the world.
