Friends Holiday Book Sale & Raffle

stocking

The Friends of Evelyn Meador will host their annual Holiday Book Sale on Saturday, December 1st from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Meeting Room of the library.

Even in the days of iPads and smart phones, books, movies and music still make great stocking stuffers!

But who wants to pay big store prices?

Not only that, but in addition to the great prices, there will also be a special raffle for some select item! (tickets available at the door)

And as always, all proceeds benefit the Evelyn Meador Branch Library.

Local artist Dori Nelson, who has previously displayed some of her work in our gallery, also teaches watercolor painting to adults. Her current class is displaying their work in the gallery throughout the month of November. Tours are available on request.

The Friends of the Library will also host a reception for the artists on Monday, November 19th at 6:00 pm in the Meeting Room (where the gallery is located).

This event is free and open to all.

Our thanks to Mr. Jack Anthamatten for this fine display of military insignia and other items from World War II.

The display will be available for viewing through the month of November.

The Colorful Southwest of Peter Bowman

southwest

Peter Bowman does what many of us may only dream of doing with our retirement years: traveling around and taking print-worthy pictures of beautiful landscapes and people and sharing them with the world.  Mr. Bowman has enough mileage under his belt to legitimately call himself a travel photographer, but he is much more than that. He has an abiding interest in the landscapes of the Southwest.
Through the month of October, the library will be hosting an exhibit of photos Mr. Bowman calls “The Colorful Southwest.”  If you love the landscapes of the Southwest, or have an affinity for the canyon country, or just love great photography, come by and check out this wonderful display in our gallery.

Share Your Treasures!

collector

I am always interested, often amazed, and frequently delighted by the sheer variety of objects people collect as a hobby.  Seemingly everything from antique buttons, coins & stamps, butterflies & bugs, shells and zills (look that one up) is subject to the passion of the collector.
Do you have a treasured collection you would like the rest of the world to see?  The library has a wonderful lighted display case in our lobby where you can display your items and let other people enjoy your efforts and your enthusiasm - almost as much as you!
Call the library for more information: 281-474-9142
