Computer classes are available at your Jacinto City Library!Seniors' computer classes are every Tuesday at 10 a.m.
English computer classes are on Tuesday at 4 p.m. and Thursday at 11 a.m.
Clases de computación en español son los martes a las 11 a.m. y los jueves a las 5 p.m.Calendars with the date and time of class are available at the library upon request. There is no need to register for class in order to attend. Please feel free to call us at (713)673-3237 if you have any questions.
Courses include: Computer Basics, Mouse and Keyboard Practice, Internet, Email, Facebook, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Resume and Online Job Applications, as well as help with eReaders and our digital catalog.

May is designated as Asian Pacific Heritage month to celebrate and acknowledge the contribution of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders to history in the United States. Your Jacinto City Library invites you to join us onThursday, May 10 at 6 p.m.
for a movie and snacks to celebrate Asian culture. The program is a family event.

Construction for the new One World Trade Center in New York City started April 27, 2006. This new building, commonly known as the Freedom Tower, will stand at 1,776 feet to commemorate the year of the U.S. Declaration of Independence. Once it is finished, the new World Trade Center will be the third tallest building in the world. The building is expected to open by 2013.

One of our country's Founding Fathers, Thomas Jefferson, was born 269 years ago today on April 13, 1743. He was a member of the Continental Congress during the American Revolution and helped write the Declaration of Independence in 1776. After the war, Jefferson served as the United States Minister to France in 1785 and later became the first Secretary of State under President George Washington in 1790. Jefferson would become the third president of the United States in 1801 until 1809. He is also known for the Louisiana Purchase, which added over 828,000 square miles of new territory to the United States.

Monday, February 27 was designated as International Polar Bear Day by the conservation group known as Polar Bears International to raise awareness against global warming. Global warming is devastating polar bear habitats rapidly. This year the organization launched Siku Cam, a live video stream of a polar bear cub named Siku from his home at the Scandinavian Wildlife Park.
