The class will be held on Wednesday, March 7 at 3:00 p.m. Class will go over how our eMedia service works and how to use it. Patrons will also have the chance to see for themselves some of the popular eReader devices, and the instructor will be available to answer questions. Be sure to bring your library cards as they will be needed to download eBooks from our digital catalog.

International Polar Bear Day

two polar bears in the sunsetMonday, February 27 was designated as International Polar Bear Day by the conservation group known as Polar Bears International to raise awareness against global warming. Global warming is devastating polar bear habitats rapidly. This year the organization launched Siku Cam, a live video stream of a polar bear cub named Siku from his home at the Scandinavian Wildlife Park. The group also made a New Year's wish on behalf of Siku:

Computer Class at JC

 Computer classes are now available at your Jacinto City Library! Courses include:

woman with computerComputer Basics, Mouse and Keyboard Practice, Internet, Email, Facebook, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Resume and Online Job Applications, as well as help with eReaders and our digital catalog. 

Calendars with the date and time of class are available at the library upon request. There is no need to register for class in order to attend. One-on-one sessions are also available. Perhaps you may want to learn how to type a resume or search for jobs online but simply have no idea what a mouse is. Then fear no longer because your Crosby Branch Library is offering free computer classes starting!

Library Programs Will Go On!

Your Jacinto City Library will still offer programs in the area even after we close August 13 for remodeling. There will be storytime and movie time at the Milton Lusk Youth Activity Center located at 1022 Mercury Drive. Storytime will be Wednesdays at 11 a.m. and movie time will be Thursdays at 3 p.m. The Youth Center offers a wide variety of activities as well, including karate and aerobic classes. If you have any questions about the library programs, you can call the library at (713)673-3237 or you can contact the youth center at (713)673-4624 for information about activites at the Youth Center.
