"Magical Monday" - Bats, Cats, and Spiders Craft

Meet with Miss Sunni for K.R.A.K.E.N (Kids Reading Around Kingwood Every Night) on Thursday, October 18 at 4 pm for more writing, drawing, and talking about kids graphic novels.  The kids are continuing to work on their own graphic novels.

On Monday, October 22 at 4 pm, it's craft time to make some bats, cats, or spiders!

Dragoneers Meet in Children's Activity Room

Dragoneers will meet in the Children's Activity Room Thursday, October 11 at 4 pm.  They will be finishing their Central American  migajon  craft and making ZOMBIE finger pens. They will talk about scary books and have some snacks.

Storybook Opera Presents: "Bantam of the Opera" for Magical Monday

On Magical Monday, October 15,at 4 pm,  Sandy Campbell from the Houston Grand Opera Storybook Opera will present: Bantam of the Opera in the Children's Activity Room. This is "an engaging and enjoyable introduction to opera for young children."

Kingwood Garden Club Coming Soon to the Children's Activity Room

Join Miss Rose at 4 pm for "Magical Monday" at 4 pm October 1.

Kids come see what the Kingwood Garden Club has planned for you for October 8 at 4 pm. 

K.R.A.K.E.N. (Kids Reading Around Kingwood Every Night)  are meeting Thursday, October 5, at 4 pm to add layout and dialog to a graphic novel.

"Get Kraken" Kids Reading Club

Kids 8 - 12   come join the K.R.A.K.E.N.  book club with Miss Sunni  - Thursday, September 20 at 4 pm in the Children's Activity Room.  Sunni has some great plans for you. 

"Magical Monday"  craft celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month Monday, September 24, at 4 pm  with a Honduran Paper Pollo (It's a bird.)  We'll enjoy some tustacas from a recipe from Honduras.

Labor Day 2012

The Kingwood Library and all other Harris County Libraries will be closed Monday, September 3, 2012, to celebrate Labor Day. 

Now that summer is over and schools starting, we will be having some changes in the Children's Area.  A new graphic novel book club for kids 8 to 12 years old called K.R.A.K.E.N. (Kids Reading Around Kingwood Every Night) with Miss Sunni, will meet the first and third Thursdays of each month.  The first meeting will be Thursday, September 6, at 4 pm.

Back to School

Kids are heading off to school, and we've been asked if we are changing  the times of our programs and activities in the Children's Area.  Check our "Events Calendar" to the right of this blog for days and times of these. We will be changing the movie times to 4 pm on Fridays.  We will be having a craft, program, or activity on Mondays at 4, beginning Monday, September 10.   All Harris County Libraries will be closed for Labor Day, Monday, September 3.  The library will reopen Tuesday, September 4, at 10 am.

Last "Investigation Station" Craft

The last "Investigation Station" craft of the summer will be a "friendship bracelet." It's made with lanyard lacings.  Joins us in the Children's Activity Room on Thursday, August 23, at 2:15.

We will be starting two book clubs next month; one will be: K.R.A.K.E.N., "Kids Reading Around Kingwood Every Night", for graphic novel readers, and Dragoneers for  all kinds of books.  For more information, call the Kingwood Library, Children's Area, at 281-360-6804.

End of Summer Reading PARTY!

The End of the Summer Reading PARTY will be Monday, August 13 starting at 7:00 in the BIG Meeting Room just inside the lobby to the right.  "Happy the Clown" is coming. There will be snacks and prizes, too.

"Snakes and More" is coming to Investigation Station Thursday, August 9 at 2:15 pm in the Children's Activity Room.
