Barbara Bush closed April 20th

Good Morning everyone! I hope you are all staying safe and dry this week. As many of you know, we've been closed the past couple days due to high water in the area. While we think the library itself is okay, surrounding areas (ie parking lots/streets) are still under water and we have no way of getting into the building. We will be closed again today and I just wanted to pass some info along to all of our customers. I am sure our being closed is a major inconvenience to a lot of our customers and hopefully we will be back to normal soon. 

Here are some things to know while the Barbara Bush Library is closed: 

Teen Scavenger Hunt

Have you ever wondered where Katnis would hide in the library? In honor of National Library Week, our YA Librarian Megan has created a fun scavenger hunt for teens. Come on by the library at 5pm and see if you can find your favorite book characters in the stacks! 

*prizes for those that finish the scavenger hunt*

Reading Warriors Book Club - Ages 8-12

Attention readers ages 8-12! The Reading Warriors will be meeting Monday, April 4th from 4:30pm-5:30pm for a book discussion. The genre being discussed is Humor! Come on in and discuss your favorite funny book. Feel free to bring a copy to show fellow readers as well!

Meet the Staff: Clara - Branch Manager

Have you met all the staff here at Barbara Bush Library? If not, check out our monthly "Meet the Staff" post! Hopefully, you'll get to know us a little bit better. 

Let's start things off with Clara!

1. What is your position? I am the manager at the library.

2. What are some of your duties? I get to help out everywhere. I work with the Friends of the Library, and our community partners. I work at the various customer service desks. I help customers that are having problems. I order equipment and repairs, and I supervise all the employees.

Read Across America Read-In

Join us on Tuesday, March 1st at 4:30pm as we celebrate Dr. Seuss' Birthday with a Read-In! Come dressed up and read with your family and friends here at the library.

Sit & Sew Artrageous Experience for Kids & Adults

Are you interested in sewing? You're in luck! On Saturday, February 20th, we will have an Adult and Children's Sit and Sew Artrageous Experience. Learn sewing machine skills, pattern layout, simple wearables, and easy quilt blocks. Join us for some hands on fun!

Tremendous Tuesday: Movie

Tuesday, February 2nd is a Tremendous Tuesday-Movie! Join us and watch Disney-Pixar's Inside Out. Inside Out shares the story of Riley, a young girl who just moved to a new town. Watch as her emotions: Joy, Anger, Fear, Sadness, and Disgust help Riley deal with the move. Starring Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, Mindy Kaling and many more, Inside Out is rated PG and is intended for ages 5-12.

I'm sure you're all in full holiday mode just as I am. When I'm not baking cookies or shopping for presents, I'm trying to relax. What better way to do that then with a good holiday horror? For your horrific holiday needs, I present a collection of holiday horrors sure to scare even Santa away!

October Dreams

Halloween is one of my absolute favorite holidays. When October comes around, I love to immerse myself inall things Halloween. Luckily for me (and you), there's a book for that!
