Margaret is retiring!

Everyone knows Margaret Davis as she's been one of the reference librarians at Barbara Bush for 40, yes 40 years! Think how many people she has helped during that time! Well, the unthinkable has happened. Margaret has decided to retire. She will be with us until Feb. 28. 

Please help us in wishing her well as she discovers the new chapter in life that is retirement. Cards are provided at the Information Desk upstairs as well as the Customer Service desk.

Tax Forms + Tax Assistance

Tax Forms & Booklets are in! We have the 1040, 1040A, and 1040EZ forms and booklets.

If you need additional forms/publications, they can be printed by visiting irs.gov/forms or you can order them by calling 1-800-829-3676.

Starting Feb. 4th, AARP will be providing free tax help. Tax help is on a first come, first serve basis. They will be here on Mondays from 1pm-8pm and Saturdays from 10am-4pm. AARP will be located in our Earl Elliott Meeting Room.

Library Cards Found!

Can't find your library card? If you think you may have left it here at the library or can't seem to find it, all hopes not lost. Stop by the library with your ID or Driver's License, and speak with a staff member. We may have the card in our Library Card Lost & Found!  

Get fit with Kickboxing and Toro!

This week we've got some great programs for the kiddos. On Tuesday, July 19th from 3-4pm, we've got a demonstration by Walker's Championship Karate & Kickboxing. Come on by to learn some cool moves! On Thursday, July 21st at 3pm, we've got Toro from the Houston Texans coming by. He's going to talk to us about getting healthy and active! Be sure to stop on by this week for some great programs!

On Tuesday, July 12th, we will have the Nature Discovery Center presenting their Back to the Bone program! For kids who love animals, Back to the Bone talks about various animals and their backbones! Learn more about these animals with various specimens and live animals. Includes sorting and comparing skills.

Julian Franklin Variety Show!

Meet the Staff: Akhila

Hey folks! This month, I'd like to introduce Akhila to y'all! Akhila is the Assistant Branch Manager for Children's Services here at the Barbara Bush Library. Let's get to know Akhila shall we? 

1. What are some of your duties as Assistant Branch Manager for Children's Services? My duties are to oversee a team of very talented Children's Librarians and together we plan and coordinate children's programs and services for the community. Part of of my duties are also to maintain and expand the children's collection.  We also serve the area schools and day cares and promote library services to them.
