Tuesday, April 30th at 5 PM – Dia de los Niños, Dia de los Libros [8+]

 

 

 

Dia De Los Niños, Dia De Los Libros is a literacy holiday that celebrates children’s books written in Spanish.

It is important for children of all languages and cultures around the world learn how to read.

Join us in the Children’s Area of the library for a special bilingual storytime on Tuesday, April 30th at 5 PM. 

Saturday, April 27th at 1:30 PM – 4 PM – Tabletop Games Day [8+]

 

 

 

 

April 27th is International Table Top Games Day!

To celebrate, we will have Tabletop Games available for friends and family to play on the library floor from 1:30 PM to 4 PM.

Our featured game will be Pandemic. 

Wednesday, April 24th at 5 PM – STEM Time – Poetry of Science [8+]

 

 

April is National Poetry Month, and we will be combining the art of poetry with the vocabulary of science.

Join us in the Community Room on Wednesday, April 24th at 5 PM to make some poetry with the various scientific terms and jargon that are thrown around classrooms all throughout the year. 

Monday, April 15th from 6-7:30 PM – Magic: The Gathering Gameplay [8+]

 

 

 

Magic: The Gathering is a dueling card game from Wizards of the Coast.

It incorporates strategy, mythical lore, and competitive-community play.

Join us on the first and third Monday of April from 6PM -7:30PM on the Library Floor for a few hours of game play.

For those who would like to learn how to play, a staff member will be present to teach you. 

Wednesday, March 20th at 5 PM – STEM Time – Rainbows [8+]

 

 

March 20th is the first day of Spring.

Spring makes us think of renewal, growth, fluffy bunnies, and rain. And what comes after the rain?

Rainbows!

Learn about light and what makes a rainbow so colorful at the Parker Williams Library at 5 PM in the Community Room. 

Monday, March 18th at 6:30 PM – Demo Day – Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 [18+]

 

 

Did you love fighting in the Dark Zone of New York?

The Green Plague won’t get you down when you join us for a hands on demonstration of Tom Clancy’s The Division 2.

On Monday, March 18th at 6:30, the Community Room will have a couple of Playstation 4’s set up so that you can run through the streets of Washington DC completing missions and hunting down Hyenas.

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 is rated Mature for blood, drug references, intense violence, and strong language. Players under 18 will need to have a parent’s written permission.

Friday, March 15th from 3:30 PM to 6 PM - Anime Club – Spring Binge – (TV-14) [12+]

 

 

Join the Parker Williams Anime Club for a mini-binge.

We’ll be watching anime, with some light duct tape cosplay construction, for 2 ½ hours.

That 150 minutes of animated bliss.

What are we going to watch?

I don’t know!

A list of possible series will be available in the beginning and voted on to see what we’ll watch.

Shonen or shojo, you’ll be the ones to decide.

Thursday, March 14th at 3:00 PM – Teen Tech Week – DIY Video Game Controllers [12 to 18]

 

 

Teen Tech Week is a celebration of technology and how teens can utilize it to create and learn.

For Teen Tech Week 2019, we are going to do wat teens do best, Game!

Using Makey Makey’s, teens are going to construct their very own game pad.

Join us at 3 PM on Thursday, March 14th in the Community Room to level up. 

Monday, March 11th from 3 - 5 PM – Gaming – Fortnite Tournament [8+]

 

For our community of players, we will be hosting our version of a Fortnite Tournament where we will have a 2V2 Playground match versus players here at the Parker Williams Branch.

There will be timed rotations based on the number of players we have.

This will be happening on Monday, March 11th from 3 to 5 PM in the computer lab.

If you have USB Xbox One or PS4 controller, you can bring it and hook into our computer as long as it has the USB cord attached (or USB wireless charging cord).
