Name that Book Read Aloud – Nightmares by Jason Segel January 17th @ 5 PM [8+]

     Continuing on the Pasadena ISD Name That Book List, we will be reading Jason Segel’s Nightmares! This month’s book is about Charlie Laird’s problems that begin with his new witchy stepmom and continues through his inability to get any sleep. With a mix of Monsters Inc. and Patterson’s Middle School series, Nightmares! is a Bluebonnet nominee that won’t disappoint.

     Please join us in the Library Community Room at 5 PM on January 17th at the Parker Williams Library to get a head start or just listen to this great story.

In honor of the release of Jason Bourne, we are going to watch The Bourne Ultimatum (PG-13), while making RFID wallets and learn about a few other spy devices.

Building Life Skills – Meal Prep January 11th @ 5 PM [7+]

     We all need to eat. That’s a fact. As the new year starts, we typically want to shed some of the weight that we added on form all of those delicious holiday treats.

     Join us on January 11th at 5PM in the Library Community Room at the Parker Williams Branch Library. We will be learning how to plan a week’s worth of meals, create a shopping list, and the essentials of preparing your food ahead of time so that you have a healthy option when you just don’t feel like cooking.

Polliwog Club by the Harris County Precinct 1 Naturalists December 19th through the 22nd @ 1-2 PM [3+]

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Looking for something educational for your kids to do during the Christmas break? The Naturalists from Harris County’s Precinct 1 will be coming to the Parker Williams Branch Library Community Room to teach children about different animal habitat on each day.

The Polliwog Club program includes songs, stories, crafts and LIVE animals! The program is geared toward children ages 3 to 5. Parental attendance is required during the hour long, four-day program.

Melillo Middle School Curicullum Night - November 17th

Mr. John from the Youth Services Department will have a table at the Melillo Middle School Curriculum Night.

This year, he will be bringing along a set of HCPL's Snap Circuits. Snap Circuits are an award winning educational experiment set that include color coded parts that snap together to make a variety of electronic devices. Snap Circuits help with developing the fundamental understanding of electrical engineering.

Come and join him to see some of the cool STEM education that the Parker Williams Branch library and HCPL have to offer. 

Anime Club – Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories (TV-14) October 14th @ 5 PM [13+]

Hour of Code – Scratch 1 April 14th @ 4:30 PM [8+]


     Hour of Code is a program brought to you by the Parker Williams Branch to help give school aged children some exposure to various computer programming languages.

     Meet us in the Computer Lab on April 14th from 4:30 to 5:30 to start learning the basics of the Scratch programing language.
