Community Craft – Beading Bracelets [All Ages] - Thursday, March 15 at 3 PM

 

If you are looking for something to do for Spring Break, join us on Thursday, March 15th at 3 PM in the Library Community Room to learn some basic beading techniques as you will construct your own beaded bracelets. All ages, children and adults, are welcome.

STEM Time – Fibonacci’s Number [7+] - Wednesday, March 14 at 3 PM

In nature, there is a repeating pattern that we can see in a variety of places.

It is sometimes found in a parallel roll in computer programing and technology.

On Wednesday, March 14th join us in the Library Community Room at 5 PM to learn about the fascinating places we can find Fibonacci’s number. 

Magic: The Gathering Gameplay [8+] - Saturday, March 10 from 2-4 PM

Magic: The Gathering is a dueling card game from Wizards of the Coast. It incorporates strategy, mythical lore, and competitive-community play.

Join us on March 10th on the Library Floor for game play from 2-4 PM. For those who would like to learn how to play, a staff member will be present to teach you.

Polliwog Club [All Ages] Monday through Friday, March 12 to 16 at 1 PM

From 1-2 PM every day of Spring Break we will have the Harris County Precinct 1 Naturalists here at the Library for Polliwog Club.

Children of all ages are invited to learn more about the different animal kingdoms that we have across our world.

There will be stories, crafts, and even a few animal visitors!

Drone Flying Club [8 to Adult] - Monday, March 12 at 5 PM

The South Belt Ellington area has always been an innovative location for the expansion of aerospace.

With a grant from the Parker Williams and Harris County Friends of the Library, we have been able to purchase the equipment to begin our own drown flying club.

If you have ever wanted to learn how to fly a quadcopter, you can learn right here at the Parker Williams Branch Library on the second and fourth Monday from 5 PM to 6 PM. 

Sounds of Science Makey Makey Rockout Session [11+] - Wednesday, March 7 at 5 PM

 

For Teen Tech Week, we are bringing you a sonic sensation.

 

You will hear the Sounds of Science! Join us in the Library Community Room at 5 PM on Wednesday, March 7th as we rock out using the Makey Makey Invention Kit to make our own version of Guitar Hero.

Read Across America – Christmas in March with Dr. Seuss [6+] - Friday, March 2 at 5 PM

 

Read Across America is a literacy holiday that celebrates the life and work of Dr. Seuss by taking out some time in the day to read to our youth.

 

Join us in the Library Community Room on March 2nd at 5 PM to celebrate Christmas in March.

 

There will be a retelling of How the Grinch Stole Christmas and some activities to match.

Join us on March 1st starting at 4 PM in the Library Community Room to watch Lego Batman.

To go along with the movie, coloring sheets and markers will be provided during the movie.

Movie popcorn has been generously provided by the Friends of the Parker Williams Library. 

Powerpoint Basics [8+] - Wednesday, February 28 at 5 PM

 

One of the greatest fears most people have is public speaking.

One way to ease that fear is to have a spot-on presentation to back them up.

Join Mr. John in the Computer Lab on February 28th at 5 PM for a basic introduction into the world of Powerpoint.
