Join the Great Books Book Club this Thursday at 7:00 PM as they host the discussion of this year's Gulf Coast Reads selection, The Promise by local author Ann Weisgarber. This discussion is part three of the Gulf Coast Reads events hosted at Freeman Library.

TGIF Programs Heads to the Jocelyn H. Lee Innovation Lab This Friday!


Come and join TGIF Programs at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 16 in the Jocelyn H. Lee Innovation Lab for Paper Circuits. This is a chance to see paper, copper tape and LEDs combine into electronic art using a little technical knowledge and creativity.

Registration Opens Tomorrow @ 10 AM - TGIF Senior Adult Trips – Tuesday 11/10 - Old Town Spring

If you are at least 50 years old, then we hope you will join us on a special Tuesday day trip to Old Town Spring on TUESDAY, November 10, 2015. The Precinct2gether bus departs from the Freeman Library parking lot no later than 9:30 AM.

On TUESDAY, November 10, TGIF Senior Adult Trips will be making an excursion to Old Town Spring. We will enjoy a leisurely day of holiday shopping. You may choose among several unique restaurants for lunch on your own. The stores will be decorated and stocked with holiday items.

Join us for an evening with Ann Weisgarber, author of The Promise, this year's Gulf Coast Reads selection. This event will be co-hosted by CCISD

TGIF Programs Hosts Andrew Coleman's Presentation "1900 Storm in Words & Photos" Friday

TGIF Programs invites adults of all ages to join us on Friday, October 9 at 10:30 AM. We are pleased to host a presentation by Andrew Coleman, Historian, Digital Projects and Interpretations for the Galveston Historical Foundation. This presentation is part one of the Gulf Coast Reads events hosted at Freeman Library.

The October Adult Crafts-To-Go Project is Here!

Adults – please stop by the upstairs Reference Desk, to pick up your own Adult Crafts-To-Go kit. We’ll be making a decorative autumn clip. This free kit will include all materials necessary as well as instructions. This project will be available while supplies last. Materials for this Maker program are provided by the Friends of Freeman Library.

TGIF Programs Presents "Savvy Social Security Planning this Friday!"

Baby boomers want to know: “Will Social Security be there for me?” “How much can I expect to receive?” “When should I apply for Social Security?” “How can I maximize my benefits?” “Will Social Security be enough for me to live in the future?” Please join us for TGIF Programs on Friday, October 2 at 10:30 AM in the Marge Jacobson Community Room. Bruce Woodcock of Bruce Woodcock Financial Services will present and take questions.

TGIF Programs' Friday Film Series Returns for Hispanic Heritage Month

The Friday Film Series resumes on Friday, September 25 at 10:15 AM in the Marge Jacobson Community Room. We collected votes for the September film throughout Summer 2015 and The Mask of Zorro won. This film tells the story of a young thief, seeking revenge over the death of his brother, is trained by the once great, but aged Zorro, who is also seeking a vengeance of his own. The Mask of Zorro, which stars Antonio Banderas, Anthony Hopkins, and Catherine Zeta-Jones, is provided by the Friends of Freeman Library. After this showing, the film will be donated to HCPL’s circulating collection.
