Planes, Trains & Autos of WWII - Scale Model Open House

We invite people of all ages to join us for in the Marge Jacobson Community Room Monday, October 3 at 7:00 PM for a show and tell of scale model versions of the machinery used during the World War II - Era and more.

This program is part of our Gulf Coast Reads programming and supported by the Jocelyn H. Lee Innovation Lab, the Friends of Freeman Library, the Galveston Bay Area Scale Modelers Association (GBASMA), and Creatorspace.

TGIF Programs Friday Film Series Returns to Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month!

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Friday Film Series will be showing the 2015 film McFarland USA, starring Kevin Costner, Maria Bello, and Ramiro Rodriguez. This Disney film tells the true story of Coach Jim White who moves his family to McFarland, California.He turns seven students with no hope into a cross-country team.

Gulf Coast Reads (GCR) Events @ Your Library


Gulf Coast Reads (GCR): On the Same Page is an annual regional reading initiative focused on promoting the simultaneous reading or listening to a selected title by those living along the upper Texas Gulf Coast.*

This year's pick, Jan Jarboe Russell's The Train to Crystal City, describes "the dramatic and never-before-told story of a secret FDR approved American internment camp in Texas during World War II, where thousands of families -- many US citizens -- were incarcerated."

Get to Know Your Muslim Neighbor Next Saturday @ your library


Next Saturday in the Marge Jacobson Community Room - Freeman Library & the Muslim American Society welcome you to join us for our first "Know Your Muslim Neighbor Neighbor" Event on Saturday, 9/24. We open the doors at 11:30 AM & invite people of all ages to learn historical facts about Islam & America!

TGIF Programs Hosts Mothers Against Drunk Driving MADD - Friday


Adults - Please join TGIF Programs as we host - "Lifesaver, Is that You?" by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) - this Friday @ 10:30 AM. Jeanette Einkauf, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD)/Law Enforcement, will deliver a presentation, followed by a question and answer session. She will also distribute handouts for attendees.

Author Dr. Menon Presents "My Mother Called Me Unni" This Saturday!

Adults - please join us as we host Dr.Venugopal Menon, on Saturday, 9/17 at 2:30 PM in the Marge Jacobson Community. Dr. Menon, retired President at the McGovern Allergy & Asthma Clinic, will talk about his book, My Mother Called Me Unni: A Doctor's Tale of Migration. Afterwards, we will host a book signing. No registration is required to attend this free presentation by Dr. Menon.

TGIF Programs Hosts College of the Mainland (COM) 50 Plus Program Friday!


Adults - Please join us as TGIF Programs hosts a presentation by the College of the Mainland (COM) 50 Plus Program this Friday @ 10:30 AM. The COM 50 Plus Program offers classes and lectures, as well as a day and extended travel program. This free presentation will require no registration. Adults - September Crafts-To-Go Now Available!

Adults - Please stop by the upstairs Reference Desk to pick up an Adult Crafts-To-Go kit. This month, we're designing Scratch Art Leaves. This free kit will include all materials necessary as well as instructions. This project will be available to adult patrons while supplies last.
