Database - Biography Resource Center

Do you need to do a report about famous person? Does your instructor require print resources? Just curious about notable women or Russian monarchs?

The Biography Resource Center provides information on more than 350,000 people from all sorts of times and places. Patrons, at the library branch or remotely, can search this database by using Search by Name (i.e. - Catherine th Great), Category Browse (i.e. - Notable Women), Biographical Facts Search (i.e. - occupation), or Advanced Search. Users can even click on the Spotlight On... person.

Databases @ your Library

Harris County Public Library (HCPL) members enjoy free access to numerous electronic databases. Thanks to the TexShare program,  can utilize a number of these databases at no cost.

Adult Crafts-to-Go!

Summer is back and so are the Adult Crafts-to-Go! Starting Tuesday, June 1st, the Clear Lake City-County Freeman Branch Library offers Adult "Crafts-to-Go!" projects at the Second Floor Information Desk. Each bag features an all-supplies included craft project. The levels of difficulty vary. This project can be made at home, too. Friday 5/21 @ Your Library

In last Friday's under50over  Program, we enjoyed the Clear Lake Museum's presentation "From Indians to Astronauts; including a history of the Clear Lake Museum." 

Adults of all ages are invited to join us this Friday for "The Cost of Complacency for Retirees." Phillip Hawley, Independent Insurance Agent, will present. For more information, please contact the library at (281) 488-1906.

Mad about Mad Men @ Your Library

 Are you mad about Mad Men, that show about ad execs. in the early 1960s? At Freeman, one of our displays exhibits a number of books popular in the late 1950s and early 1960s.

In last Friday's under50over  Program, the University of Houston Clear Lake and Freeman Branch Library invited James C. Benson Ph.D to speak. Mr. Benson spoke about "Commonly Asked Questions About the Texas Probate System."

This Friday, we look forward to the Clear Lake Museum's presentation "From Indians to Astronauts; including a history of the Clear Lake Museum." Asian Pacific American Heritage Month and Crafts-to-Go!

May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. Starting Monday, May 3rd, the Clear Lake City-County Freeman Branch Library will offer the Adult “Crafts- to-Go!” program. Adult "Crafts-to-Go!" will feature a simple craft project which adults can request at the second floor Information Desk. This project can be made at the library or at home. Fridays @ Your Library

 The library invites adults of all ages to the under50over Program which takes place on Fridays. 

Today, local author Mary Sue Anton presented "New Madrid: A Mississippi River Town in History and Legend." She discussed how to distinguish between fact and fiction in regards to New Madrid.
