Coming up this Friday!

In last Friday's under50over  Program, we enjoyed hearing Kimberly Weathers, Ph.D speak on this Friday, March 5th at 10:30 am. Dr. Weathers presented  "Sinners in the Hand of an Angry God:Colonial American Religion". This presentation was part of a joint program of the University of Houston Clear Lake, C.L.A.S.P. and Freeman Branch Library.

The under50over Friday movie day was another success this past week. We enjoyed watching a movie and the coffee and snacks provided by the Friends of Freeman Library.

Under 50 Over @ FM - movie week

 From Adult Services:

This Friday, February 19th, we heard Dr. Richard Sparks, D.D.S and Dental Hygienist Tiffany Sparks speak. They talked to us about "Adult Dental Health: From Basic Prevention To Cosmetic Dentistry."
 

This coming Friday, February 26th, we look forward to seeing a movie, title to be announced. The movie starts at 10:15 am. Coffee and snacks are provided by the Friends of Freeman Library. "Women through Time" Girl Scout IP:E! Registration

Registration opens this coming Monday!

The next "Girl Scout Interest Project: Exploration!" workshop - "Women through Time" takes place on Monday, March 22nd at 4:30 pm.  We look forward to hearing Meredith Layton, the Young Adult Librarian at Freeman, talk at the "Women through Time" workshop.

On Friday, February 12th, Master Gardener Herman Auer talked about optimal gardening in the Houston area. After his
presentation, Mr. Auer answered numerous questions from the audience.

"Your Best Defense" Girl Scout Interest Project: Exploration! workshop

On Monday, February 8th, the Girl Scout Interest Project: Exploration! program presented the "Your Best Defense" workshop. We learned about effective speech in conflict. Then, we discussed what to do in uncomfortable situations and ways to increase our safety in public areas. We ended the workshop with martial arts presenter Ash Welborn who instructed us in self-defense techniques.

Next month, the Girl Scout Interest Project: Exploration! program looks forward to presenting the "Women through Time" workshop. This happens on Monday, March 22nd at 4:30 pm. Registration opens Monday, February 22nd. Please call 281-488-1906  to register for this free workshop.

From Adult Services @ Freeman:

Kathryn Black Morrow spoke February 5th  at our Under50Over program. She gave
excellent tips for sorting, organizing and writing about all the various
family photos, letters, reciepts and clothes or other material you have
inhereted or have collected. We hope to have her come again and expand on
writing about our Family History.

We are looking forward to having Herman Auer who is standing in for Mary Demeny speak on gardening in the Houston area Friday the 12th. Adults of all ages are welcome to join us.
 

Adult Crafts-To-Go! for Black History Month

The “Adult Crafts-to-Go!” program returns on Monday, February 1st, in honor of Black History Month. This simple project can be requested at the Second Floor Reference Desk while supplies last. Supplies provided by Friends of Freeman Library.
