Book Sale

The Friends of the Maud Marks Library will hold their next book sale on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. There is a large selection of hardback fiction and nonfiction, as well as children's books and paperbacks. Come check it out!

 

Volunteer Orientation

We will be holding our next volunteer orientation this Thursday, Sept. 1 at 4:30 pm. Students in high school should commit to two hours a week. Contact the library at 281-492-8592 if you have any questions.

eBooks

The Maud Marks Library will be offering an ebooks class Tuesday, August 23 at 7 pm in the computer lab. In this class you will learn what an ebook is and the services Harris County Public Library offers.  Please call to register at 281-492-8592.

Over 1000 readers!

Maud Marks Library has exceeded 1000 readers signed up for our 2016 Summer Reading Program.

68 babies, 705 kids, 90 teens and 141 adults have committed to read this summer. If you aren't one of them there is still time to join. The summer reading program runs thru August 6. In order to get any prizes you need to have read 10 books or completed 10 activities. 

The kid has something to say........

Update your calendar for this is the last week of Pre-school Explorers and Wednesday Wonders. We will take a break for the summer and return in September. 

Don't despair, the summer months are jammed packed with fun things to do, starting Monday, June 6 with the start of the Summer Reading Program and a petting zoo from 1:30-3:30 pm. See you there.

Bravo, Chico Canta! Bravo!

Join us this Friday at 1 pm for the celebration of the 20th anniversary of El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Children's Day/Book Day), commonly known as Día.   Día is a celebration every day of children, families, and reading. The celebration emphasizes the importance of literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

Festivities include hosting the play Bravo, Chico Canta! Bravo! adapted from the book by Pat Mora and Libby Martinez and presented by Brave Little Company.  

Static Electricity

 Learn all about static electricity this week at Wednesday Wonders. The class is designed for 6-10 year olds. Starting time is 4:45 pm, free tickets available starting at 4:30. Space is limited.


Kaleidoscopes

This week we will explore light and refraction in Wednesday Wonders by making kaleidoscopes. The program is designed for children ages 6-10. Free tickets are available at the information desk 15 minutes before the start time of 4:45 pm. Space is limited.

Rodeo Time

Its such a fun time to live in Houston and enjoy the mild winters and attend  the Houston Livestock and Rodeo. We have put together a collection of rodeo related books and materials for you to check out before you head down to see this awesome thing we call RODEO!
