Why not de-stress before the Thanksgiving holiday with some awesome yoga? This Saturday, November 19 we will be offering a free yoga class with a certified instructor. Class begins at 3 pm. Bring a mat and wear comfortable clothing. 

Intermediate Microsoft Excel

There are still openings for the Intermediate Excel class tomorrow, Saturday November 5 @10 AM. This class will show you how to manage information and format data by using charts and tables. You will also learn how to sort and filter your data and insert graphs. The class is free! Call us at 281-492-8592 to register. 

Genealogy

 Have you ever been interested in learning about your family's history? Where did they  come from? Who was your great great grandfather? Well, we've got some great  news. Volunteers will be at the library every Wednesday  to help anyone who wants to learn more about their roots. All levels from beginners to advance will gain the skills needed to trace their family lineage using the library's genealogy databases.  The classes will be held every Wednesday at 10 AM. No registration is required. What's stopping you? 

Book Sale

The Friends of the Maud Marks Library will hold their next book sale on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. There is a large selection of hardback fiction and nonfiction, as well as children's books and paperbacks. Come check it out!

 

Volunteer Orientation

We will be holding our next volunteer orientation this Thursday, Sept. 1 at 4:30 pm. Students in high school should commit to two hours a week. Contact the library at 281-492-8592 if you have any questions.

eBooks

The Maud Marks Library will be offering an ebooks class Tuesday, August 23 at 7 pm in the computer lab. In this class you will learn what an ebook is and the services Harris County Public Library offers.  Please call to register at 281-492-8592.

Over 1000 readers!

Maud Marks Library has exceeded 1000 readers signed up for our 2016 Summer Reading Program.

68 babies, 705 kids, 90 teens and 141 adults have committed to read this summer. If you aren't one of them there is still time to join. The summer reading program runs thru August 6. In order to get any prizes you need to have read 10 books or completed 10 activities.

Update your calendar for this is the last week of Pre-school Explorers and Wednesday Wonders. We will take a break for the summer and return in September. 

Don't despair, the summer months are jammed packed with fun things to do, starting Monday, June 6 with the start of the Summer Reading Program and a petting zoo from 1:30-3:30 pm. See you there.

Bravo, Chico Canta! Bravo!

Join us this Friday at 1 pm for the celebration of the 20th anniversary of El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Children's Day/Book Day), commonly known as Día.   Día is a celebration every day of children, families, and reading. The celebration emphasizes the importance of literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

Festivities include hosting the play Bravo, Chico Canta! Bravo! adapted from the book by Pat Mora and Libby Martinez and presented by Brave Little Company.
