Spring Branch-Memorial Library -- The Page Turners

Silas Marner Title to be discussed: Silas Marner, by George Eliot.  Date of the meeting: Tuesday, Nov. 8, 6:30 pm.  Summary: Embittered by his past, miserly Marner retreats into a lonely life with his hoarded gold, then fate steals his riches and leaves instead a golden-haired child.  The secret of the girl's past and who stole the gold are at the heart of this classic.

New Furniture

Registration StationThe new registration station makes it easier to apply for a new card.  Support from the Villages made it possible to add the new station and computer chairs.

Hispanic Heritage Month

Come and celebrate Hispanic Heritage month at the library!  Date: Thursday, September 22, 3:30pm.  Have fun creating colorful decorations to take home and share with your family.

We hope you have noticed the two new computers in the children's area.  These computers are dedicated for use by our children.

ReaderNation Adult Winner 2011

Adult winnerRetired librarian, Rebecca Hubert, was the 2011 adult winner of the Summer Reading Program for Spring Branch-Memorial Library.   She has always enjoyed reading and decided to join this years ReaderNation program when she noticed it online.   Her favorite books this summer were Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience and Redemption by Laura Hillenbrand and The Help by Kathryn Stockett.  She also enjoyed the movie The Help and felt it followed the book.  She plans to use the Amazon gift card to purchase books.    

Summer Reading Program Ends This Week

The Summer Reading Program will end Satuday August 6.  Now is the time to record the books you have been reading.   Children and teens can pick up their certificates and prizes through the end of the day Saturday.  We hope you have enjoyed reading and will continue to read throughout the year.

Movie at the Library!

Beat the heat with a great teen movie at the library!  Bring your friends to enjoy this recent teen release.  Check out the poster in the library.  Rated PG13, 1 hour, 44 minutes.  Date: Thursday, August 4, 2pm.  Snacks provided.
