Hope you were able to join us for this free lively, informative presentation about Handel's Xerxes  Monday, April 19, 7pm.  Ann Thompson's preview was excellent.  The Houston Grand Opera isl presenting Xerxes from April 30th to May 14th.

Previous Opera discussion: Tschaikovsky's Queen of Spades,  Date of presentation: Monday, April 12, 7pm.  Join us for a lively preview presented by Ann Thompson.  The Houston Grand Opera will be presenting this opera April 16-May 1 as part of their Spring repertory period.  Upcoming preview: Handel's Xerxes, April 19.

Go Wild! Celebrate Earth Day

A scientfic look at the magic in our own backyard.  Don't miss this fun, hilarious and entertaining show.  Date: Thursday, April 8, 4pm.  School age children.

Plant and Book Festival

Friday, March 26 10am - 5pm; Saturday, March 27 10am - 4pm.  Friends of the Library are offering for sale:  Plants of every kind and color--bedding plants, large & small, outdoor & indoor, hanging baskets, beautiful flowers.  Coupons from area businesses.  Books in every category--rare, out-of-print, collectible, history, cookbooks, novels, children's, religious, classics.  Silent auction.  Refreshments compliments of Sweet Tomatoes.

Tax Forms

The library carried some of the most frequently needed IRS tax forms.  Forms are also available online and staff can assisted in navigating the IRS website.

Spring Break Activities

Hope you didn't sit home feeling bored!  We had a good time with the following fun, free activities:

Animated PG film, recent release, Tuesday, March 16, 10 am

Opera To Go, "Cinderella in Spain", Wednesday, March 17, 2:30 pm, for elementary and middle school children.

 

Early Days of Harris County Library History

We had a display in February 2010 about the early days of Harris County Public Library.  There were pictures from the early days in the display case near the check-out desk.  Photographs were thanks to the Harris County Archives.
