Para los Ninos/For the Children Storytime

Join us Monday, May 20 at 6pm and Tuesday, May 21 at 11 am for "Math at Home", part of the Para los Ninos/For the Children Series, when we'll explore beginning math concepts for preschool and early elementary aged children! Activities are developed by the Children's Museum of Houston and are family-friendly with ideas for continuing education at home with inexpensive materials. Famillies attending will receive a free pass to the museum good for at least 4 persons. These programs are recommended for ages 3-8 years and will be held in the North Channel Public Meeting Room. North Channel 25th Anniversary Celebration!

It's time to celebrate! Join us for North Channel Branch Library's 25th Anniversary Wednesday, May 15 at 1pm and 5pm. Hear encouraging words at 1pm from the director of Harris County Library System and a representative from the Harris County Commissioner's Office, in addition to refreshments and a pictorial slideshow reflecting the library's history. At 5pm, there will be a family-friendly event featuring Happy the Clown's Magic Show with DJ/music/dancing fun and more refreshments! Many local restaurants have graciously donated food as well as the Friends of the North Channel Library. Don't miss out-attendees of either programs will have a chance to enter in drawings for donated gift baskets and gift cards too!

Asian Pacific Heritage Month Celebration

Join us as we highlight the Republic of Philippines, which consists of 7,641 islands, located in the Western Pacific Ocean in Southeast Asia, for Asian Pacific Heritage History Month! The festivities will be held on Wednesday, May 8 from 6-7:30pm. The Filipino American Chamber of Commerce presents a vocal performance in the Children's Area, followed by native dance footage, a costume display and tasty themed treats in partnership with the Texas Association of Filipino Educators (TAFED) in the Public Meeting Room. All ages are welcome!

Earth Day Crafting

Celebrate Earth Day 2019 with us on Wednesday, April 22 at 5 pm when you can create your own upcycled superhero cuffs and earth day buttons! This earth-friendly craft program is recommended for ages 4-12 years and will be located in the Children's Area.

S.T.E.A.M. Camp

Explore process art and the effects of gravity and motion during S.T.E.A.M. Camp Monday, March 25 at 6pm when we try Slinky Painting! This project will take place on the floor of our Meeting Room...Don't forget to dress for the occasion! S.T.E.A.M. Camp programs take place the last Monday evening of most months and are a great introduction to simple science concepts for kids ages 6-12 years.Topics for discovery include Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. No tickets needed.

Nutty Scientists: Ice Age

Have a smashing Spring Break and get your science on at "Ice Age" by Nutty Scientists this Wednesday, March 13 at 2:30pm! Nutty Scientists will present a variety of science experiments to dazzle you, including one with dry ice, an exploding volcano, and even a mega-bubble! This program is recommended for ages 3 - 12 years and their caregivers and will be held in the Children's Area. AARP Tax Help @ North Channel Library

It's that time of year again!  AARP will be here on Thursdays from 12pm-4pm, February 7 through April 11, to assist with this year's tax returns. Their specialty is in elderly and low-income returns, but they can help with other simple returns. Sign up is on the same day of assistance starting at 10am upon the library's opening and is on a first come, first serve basis, however, a line generally forms by the entrance earlier. AARP can assist twenty people per day. STEAM Camp

At STEAM Camp on Monday, January 28 at 6pm we'll be exploring engineering and gravity principles when we design our own mini parachutes! All materials are supplied and no tickets are required-just show up! STEAM Camp is recommended for ages 6-12 years. We'll be enjoying this activity in the Public Meeting Room.

Animal Superpowers Series

We sure had fun at the first program of the "Animal Superpower's" Spring Series by Deussen Park's Traveling Naturalist! Pictured is a scorpion we saw glow; we also saw a milk snake, a gecko, a Pipa Pipa frog, and a flying squirrel! This series on Animal Senses will be every second Tuesday through April at 11am. Recommended age 3-6 years.

Monday Movie Madness

 Join us Monday, December 10 at 5pm for the holiday movie, Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas on our big screen! Will Christmas be ruined for the Who's?
